Barbara Eaves barbara.eaves@att.net To: Valentin J. Cuellar, President Villa De San Agustin – Laredo Genealogy Society Valentin -The 2014 San Jacinto Symposium is exploring The Tejano Side of the Texas Revolution, a story that has not been told very often (or very well) and one that is of growing interest as more and more of our population is of Hispanic heritage. On Saturday, April 12, six eminent Texas history scholars will tackle what has evolved into the somewhat off-kilter memory of the Revolution – that it was Anglos against Mexicans. Actually, more than 100 Texas-born Tejanos fought in Sam Houston’s army alongside “newcomers” from the U. S. and Europe. The attached flyer outlines the speakers and their specific topics. I hope you will share them with others who might be interested. The Symposium will be from 9 a.m. to 5 pm., at Ripley House, the historic center of Houston’s Hispanic Community, at 4410 Navigation, 77003. The $55 fee covers lunch, parking, exhibits, and a stimulating day of formal presentations and informal conversations with interesting people. I hope to see you among them! Please contact me or visit http://www.sanjacintoconservancy.org/ for additional information.
