Terry Goddard to Meet with Top Federal Officials on Gas Prices, Warren Jeffs

(Phoenix, Ariz. – June 8, 2006) Attorney General Terry Goddard will meet with U.S. Attorney
General Alberto Gonzales and Federal Trade Commission Chair Deborah Majoras on
Monday, June 12, to discuss ways of putting downward pressure on continued high gasoline
prices. Goddard will be joined by Attorneys General from nine other states for the meetings.

The meeting was requested by the state Attorneys General in response to a letter sent to
them last month by Gonzales and Majoras. That letter expressed the federal officials’
readiness to work with the states to ensure that any unlawful conduct related to gas prices is
swiftly addressed.

While they are in Washington, D.C., the state Attorneys General will also meet with several
U.S. Senators about gas prices and a federal anti-price gouging bill. Goddard is co-chair of
the Consumer Protection Committee of the National Association of Attorneys General.

Additionally, Goddard plans to meet that day with top officials from the Federal Bureau of
Investigation to discuss the coordination of state and federal efforts in the search for fugitive
Warren Jeffs, who was recently added to the FBI’s national “10 Most Wanted” list.

Goddard will be available for media interviews Thursday and Friday, June 8 and 9. Please
contact Andrea Esquer at 602-542-8019 for more information.
