TASK SPECIFICATION
TASK 1: The use of WH-questions to help develop the skills of skimming and scanning among the student in primary school. TASK 2: Prepare a suitable activity to develop reading comprehension skills among primary school pupils.

SKIMMING

We can use WH-question to help student to get an overall picture about the text. Alert student about the purpose of certain type of text.

Eg : - What is the text about? - What is the purpose of this type of text? (i.e. to provide information, to recount an event, to explain).

SCANNING

It can develop your student ability to locate specific information in a text. E.g.: How many cars are there? It can improve your student understanding of main details, usually factual information. - eg: which one is Halim favourite food?

Sentence completion require your students to fill in a gap with up to three words and/ or a number from passage. Student have to scanning reading passage to find the words.

E.g.: Question :Where did Siti go after recess? Answer : After recess, __________.

TASK 2

In groups, students are given a story entitled Rumpelstilskin which have been chopped up.

Each paper contain certain paragraph from a story.

Using their new and prior knowledge, create their own version of this kind of Rumpelstilskin (synthesizing skills).

Students need to reassemble the story using prediction skills and sequencing skills.
