WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, WHEREAS, The Student Assembly recognizes a widespread desire for action on the part of the student body; and The Student Assembly fully expects the administration to accommodate all students who wish to learn how to prevent sexual violence; and The Panhellenic Council has called our community to action on the issue of socio-economic exclusivity within the Greek system; and The administration has permitted the creation of dues-assistance accounts for Greek sub-councils, but has disallowed students from soliciting money to fill these accounts; and Greek houses have great potential to organize to prevent sexual violence; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Student Assembly will contribute $2,000 to the new Greek sub-council dues-assistance accounts for every Greek organization that puts either twenty five or one-half of their ‘15s and ‘16s (whichever comes first) through the full sixhour DBI leadership training; and, be it FURTHER RESOLVED, That these contributions will go towards the sub-council of which the participating organization is a member; and, be it FURTHER RESOLVED, That if 10 Greek letter organizations meet this benchmark by the end of Spring 2014, the Treasurer of the Assembly will transfer up to $30,000 to the sub-council accounts by the end of the fiscal year. The total sum will be allotted proportionally to sub-councils based on participation of the organizations in that sub council; and, be it FINALLY RESOLVED, That if the administration or a student group effectively controlled by the administration impedes the transfer of funds, the Student Body President shall consult alumni groups on strategies for filling the scholarship accounts without breaking the ban on direct solicitation.
