As a result of the increased consumption of raw milk from milkomate, the nonguvernamental organization ZPS test raw milk

sold trough 22 milkomate from all over the Slovenian state. The following parameters subject to the control are: physical parameters (temperature and freezing point), chemical parameters (fat content, protein and water), microbiological parameters (somatic cells, total number of enteric bacteria, Listeriae monocytogenes, E.coli, antibiotc rezidues). The results have been presented in journal (magazine) organization but also in a press conference. This study involves answers to the problems of food safety, quality management, ethics and legislation. Because of its composition, milk is an excellent environment for many microorganisms. Contamination sources : animal hair and skin, stable dust (milking will be done before feeding animals) , water and animal manure, human feces, feces from infected animals . In recent years diseases of dairy consumption were associated mainly contaminated with Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, Campylobacter jejuni and Escherichia coli O 157:H7. Sanitation dosing area is in various ways, depending on the preferences of automatic milk producer: either steam or water jet dispersion and jet combined with ultraviolet lamp; UV lamp is used for potable water and sterilizing the spaces and instruments used in hospitals, because it destroys most bacteria. Food safety for milkomate in Slovenia is poor and the proof is the analysis result of testing samples. Lake of concrete legislative provisions about (regarding) the number of enteric bacteria, the number of E.coli, the presence of Listeriae monocytogenes, absence of official data on milk control from milkomate and lack of control requirement milk at the farm have shown no concern to food safety Slovenian state. Morally, milk should be a safe aliment ! Consumer safety should be entirely suported by the state through all the levers at its disposal : Legislative: first of all, the control organs the public health authorities and the veterinary authorities; Educational: the education of the consumer and last but not least, the consumer protection organizations.

In terms of legislation, when speaking about raw milk sold through the milkomate, the involvement of the authorities is practically nonexistent. The lack of legislation provisions and growing consumer preference for raw products was a flaw exploited by farmers, net earnings being relatively high. This has happened in other countries of the world but the outbreak of diseases associated with consumption of unpasteurized milk and permanent concern for food safety have led either to ban the sale of raw milk for consumption or selling it with restrictions. Providing compliance with legal rules could limit the risks posed by its consumption.
