MSMS-2112 Kinematics Kinematics & Dynamics Dynamics of Machi Machinery HW Set No. 5 due Friday, October 18, 2013 before class starts
Hint: For all problems, you have to perform velocity analysis first. Use polygon method. 1. Figure 1 shows a six-bar mechanism consisting of two slider-cranks. If the mechanism is powered by an electric motor such that the angular velocity of crank 2 is constant, 2 = 10 rad/s clockwise, determine the acelerations of points A, B, and C, AA, AB and AC as well as the angular accelerations of links 3, 5, and 6, 3, 5, dan 6. Note: Scale 1 : 5 !

Figure 1

2. Figure 2 shows the 6-bar mechanism in a special position. For this mechanism, if link 2 rotates at a constant velocity of 2 = 20 rad/s, determine the acceleration of points A, B, C, and D as well as the angular accelerations of links 3, 4, and 5 3, 4 dan 5 , by using the polygon.

3. Figure 3 depicts the kinematic diagram of a 2-cylinder Internal Combustion engine. For the mechanism shown, if crank 2 rotates with the speed of 2 = 200 rad/s (clockwise) and accelerates with 2 = 500 rad/s2 (clockwise), determine the velocities and accelerations of pistons 4 and 6 (VB, VD and AB, AD), as well as the angular velocities and accelerations of links 3 and 5, 3 and 5; and 3 and 5.

Figure 3

4. Figure 4 shows a scotch-yoke mechanism that transform rotational motion of crank 2 into translational motion of link 4. If link 2 rotates at a constant angular velocity, 2 = 10 rad/s (counter-clock wise), determine the velocity and acceleration of link 4 by using the velocity and aceleration polygons. Note: roller 3 rotates and translates with respect to the slot. Scale 1 : 2.
