Press Release – April 10, 2014
Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr. reports the arrest of a New Scotland resident for Grand Larceny. The sheriff reports that investigators assigned to the Criminal Investigations Unit received a complaint from an elderly victim in July of 2013 who reported that several pieces of jewelry which were valued at more than $3,000.00 had been stolen from her basement apartment which is located in the Town of New Scotland. Although no suspects had been identified, investigators kept the case open and routinely checked pawn shop records from area cities in an attempt to recover the missing items. Recently, while investigators were checking the pawn records they discovered that Jennifer L. Do (34) of New Scotland, who is the victim’s step-granddaughter, had pawned some of the missing jewelry at a pawn shop in the City of Albany. Mrs. Do was arrested on April 8, 2014 and was charged with Grand Larceny in the third degree, a class “D” felony. She was arraigned in the Town of Westerlo Court and released under the supervision of probation. Mrs. Do is a self-employed house cleaner and during the course of this investigation, it was learned that she had visited this pawn shop numerous times since September of 2013, and during those visits has pawned several pieces of jewelry. If anyone has had contact with Mrs. Do or has had jewelry missing after she has done work for you, please contact the Albany County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit at (518)720-8075.
