Solon seeks single-ticketing system for country’s superhighway network to ease traffic
A House member has filed a resolution seeking to require the different toll operators to come up with a single ticketing system for the country’s superhighway network to ensure smooth and uninterrupted travel of the public. Rep. Aleta Suarez !rd "istrict# $uezon% pushed for the single&ticketing system for the country’s superhighway through House Resolution ''(. )*he government should require the different toll operators to put in place a single& ticketing system which eliminates both the need to procure different devices for every operator and the need for several toll booths# making our road network a bonafide superhighway#+ said Suarez. She said the improvements done on the ,orth -uzon ./pressway ,-.0% and South -uzon ./pressway S-.0%# the construction of the Subic&1lark&*arlac ./pressway S1*.0% and the *arlac&2angasinan&-a 3nion ./pressway *2-.0% certainly would improve the transportation of people# goods and service across the different provinces. However# while these massive road networks have enhanced the country’s transport system# Suarez said the presence of different toll operators intermittently cut off what supposedly should be a smooth and continuous ride for the public. )*he tollbooth stops are where traffic bottlenecks occur# hence negating whatever advantages are offered by these new superhighways#+ said Suarez. Suarez# a member of the House 1ommittees on Appropriations# Health# Reforestation and Southern *agalog "evelopment# said it is laudable that the private sector has responded massively in the construction of big&ticket pro4ects such as the building of e/pressways. She said private participation in these e/pressway pro4ects is in fulfillment of Article ii Section 56 of the 76'8 1onstitution# which provides that )*he State recognizes the indispensable role of the private sector# encourages private enterprise and provides incentives to needed investments.+ !9% rbb
