LESSON PLAN FOR HISTORY- FORM 1 2008

THEME: THREATS AND RESPONSES

UNIT: 4.2 THE REIGN OF SULTAN ABDUL MOMIN (1852- 1885)

SUB-TOPICS: THE AMANAT 1885

LENGTH OF LESSONS: 3 PERIOD (1½hours)

NO. OF STUDENTS: 20

OBJECTIVES:

Students are able to:-

• explain what was Amanat?

• explain why Amanat was made?

• answer who made the Amanat and to whom the Amanat was
meant for?

• answer when was Amanat made?

• answer how effective was the Amanat?

• answer why was the Amanat not effective?

PROCEDURE

Induction- Recapping previous lessons by asking questions on what they


have learnt.
Lesson developments- Start by showing a MAP of North Borneo (Sabah),
Brunei &

Sarawak in 1800 before and after the Amanat 1885


was introduced.

Explaining how Brunei had lost their land to foreign


powers briefly and which led to the introduction of the
Amanat 1885.

Then, continue introducing the TOPIC- The Amanat


1885 by defining the meaning of Amanat.

Explaining who introduced the Amanat and when did it


is introduced.

Still, continue with explaining the reasons why it was


introduced and explain the outcomes. And,
emphasizing the important points of Amanat.

• Lesson closure.

 Teacher then gives student handout each consisting of lists of


what to do relate to the topic.

 Assessment: Group of 3 or 4 pupils.

1. Research and construct a possible content of


the Amanat 1885. And make a replica of the
agreement.

2. Make a chart showing the important facts


related to the Amanat 1885. Including facts
answering questions of Whom, Why, What,
When, the effect and the outcome.
