Annual Picnic

Was held a little late at our October meeting day catered by Mastoris Restaurant. Everything turned out very well. The food and desserts were outstanding. I want to sincerely thank my committee: Irene Zambrowski, Tom Gough and Joan Whalen. They all did a tremendous job of organizing, and most of all, the taking over of things while I was hospitalized again. I can never thank them too much.

We all worked very hard that day. I had asked for volunteers to help clean up and to my surprise the only one that helped us was a new member, Nancy Miller. Oh well. Start thinking about 2010 for volunteers to head committees for the May Anniversary Dinner, the August Picnic and Xmas Party. I will be asking for them at our next meeting.

It was so nice to see some old members who do not attend meetings come & join us. It was also good to see Isabel Cowell and Vergie Weiner.

So sorry that many were ill and couldn't make it like our own Vice President Bill Johnson.

Desserts were supplied by Club A: Betty Cleland, Marge Heenan, Nancy Miller (2), Sandi Mullaney, Mary Gatto, Jackie Kraus, Ann Horan, Joan Whalen and Irene Zambrowskie.

We had 69 reservations and only 60 in attendance.

Veterans Day

As all of us celebrate Veterans Day,

Let us take some time out to kneel and pray. Pray that violence everywhere will cease.

Pray that soon the whole world will be at peace. Pray that all will fill up their hearts with love. Pray that our Vets will be taken care of.

Lord, thank those who died so we might be free. We know they're with you in eternity.

Lord, we put all of our vets in your care.

Lord, thank you for listening to our prayer.

Thanksgiving Day

I think a lot about Thanksgiving Day,

And how God has blessed me in every way. I thank Him for the family that I have --

How each member has made my heart feel glad! I thank God for all of you who are friends.

You don't know who you'll meet around the bend, But I've seen kindness and love always there -Some are like angels - an answer to prayer.

I thank God that my basic needs are met:

I have food, clothes, shelter, so I don't fret. All my life God provided food for me, Even at times when I had no money.

I thank God for all blessings from above. I thank God for his Great, undying, love!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! May God bless you too in every way!

Ewing Presbyterian Seniors

The Ewing Presbyterian Seniors met on Tuesday, October 6, at noon in the Education Building. After lunch, we enjoyed Walter Brower's presentation of "Cranberries -New Jersey's Red October." Because he grew up in a cranberry growing area, Walt was able to demonstrate some of the techniques mentioned in the DVD and answer the questions that members had.

We will meet again on Tuesday, November, for iunch and a program presented by JoAnn Hoffmann. She is going to discuss the Arlington Academy of Hope and her trip to Uganda to help up the school library and help in a medical clinic. Many of you remember JoAnn from her time as the Mercer County Extension service and her work with 4- H.

ASPIRIN>}'·

You may know this already but share this information with a friend!!!

1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it at night. The reason: aspmn has a 24-hour "half-life"; therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of

the morning, the aspirin would be strongest in your system.

2. FYI, aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest.

Please read on ...

WHY ASPIRIN BY THE BED? It saves lives ...

It is important to always have ASPIRIN in the home!!!

Why have Aspirin by the bedside?

ABOUT HEART ATTACKS:

There are other symptoms of a heart attack besides the pain down the

left arm.

One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea

and lots of sweating; however these symptoms may also occur less frequently

NOTE: There may be no pain in the chest during a heart attack.

The maj ority of people (about 60%) who have had a heart attack during

their sleep did not wake up. However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, IMMEDIATELY DISSOLVE TWO ASPIRINS IN YOUR MOUTH and swallow them with a bit of water: .

Afterwards, CALL 911 and state "HEART ATTACK!!!" and that you have taken 2 ASPIRIN. Then, if you can, call a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by.

SIT on a chair or sofa and wait for their arrival and ...

... DO NOT LIE DOWN !! 1. ..

A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving information, shares it with at least 10 people, probably a life could be saved!

I have already shared this information! !! What about you?

IT MAY SAVE LIVES !!!
