Rotterdam, May 2009

Referred to as “Partner for Free”, the new hospitality concept for business travellers launched by Rotterdam Marketing in cooperation with HotelService Rotterdam is now being expanded. From now on, international congress attendees can have their partner stay in the city for free. Besides the overnight hotel accommodations, which include breakfast, the accompanying partners also receive the Rotterdam Welcome Card, allowing them to benefit from discounts at many of the city’s best attractions, museums and restaurants. The Partner for Free concept reaffirms Rotterdam’s reputation as a friendly destination for business travel. And the investment is paying off. The business community is showing significantly increased interest in Rotterdam. Preliminary figures show that Rotterdam has risen to second place in the most popular congress cities in the Netherlands. “Rotterdam invests extensively in hospitality concepts,” explains Ton Wesselink, director of Rotterdam Marketing. “Rotterdam pampers congress organisers from A to Z. A promotion fund provides a financial incentive. HotelService Rotterdam then arranges the overnight stays for the congress participants in one of the official congress hotels, entirely free of charge. And Partner for Free now arranges the same free convenience for the partners of these participants.” The free Rotterdam Welcome Card unites optimal business standards with enjoyable convenience. The Rotterdam Welcome Card gives congress participants and their partners attractive discounts at attractions, museums, restaurants, cafés and entertainment venues in Rotterdam. The 39 special offers associated with the Rotterdam Welcome Card represent a total value of more than € 200. The new hospitality concept offers congress organisers a new incentive to help influence their choice of a congress location. The Partner for Free concept was a factor in the organisers’ decision to hold the 13th annual European Congress of Endocrinology in Rotterdam. The congress will be held in Concert and Congress Centre de Doelen in 2010. _______________________________________________________________________
