Disabled American Veterans Offers Support for Homeless Veterans

A lifelong philanthropist and the president of The Lois Pope LIFE Foundation, Inc., Lois Pope supports a number of nonprofit organizations for American veterans. Disabled American Veterans (DAV) shares many of the same charitable objectives as Mrs. Pope, including a focus on many of the social and economic issues facing veterans with disabilities. Through its many programs and initiatives, DAV seeks to combat chronic homelessness among American veterans.

Due to a partnership with the DAV Charitable Service Trust and Columbia Trust, the DAV Homeless Veterans Initiative sets out to help veterans become healthy, selfsufficient members of society. All too often, veterans return home and find themselves without the necessary support services and housing options to begin building new lives. In order to mitigate this issue, DAV works closely with governments at the local, state, and federal levels to implement veteran assistance programs across the United States. DAV also communicates directly with veterans to help them understand the federal benefits and services to which they are entitled.
