In 2006 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career full time. This multitalented lady does it all; vocalist, songwriter, playing piano, guitar, drums and flute, all mixing into her own musical style that combines jazz with funk and folk along with her world music influences. Remembering her first LA experience, Adjoa laughs and thinking about it now, and considers it “Divine Intervention”; “I was living in a place that was condemned by the Health Department, paying $250 a month, working as a waitress and going to auditions and playing during my off hours, just killing myself. The first Open Mic night I went to it was pouring rain. A terrible storm hit and the roof collapsed on the building I was living in, causing water to run all down into my room so I decided to go out to this Open Mic night. I played for forty-five minutes and was invited to play every week for six months. It was during that time I realized this is what I wanted to do full time.” Endorsed by Sennheiser Microphones, she performed at the 2008 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Show in Anaheim, California this past January. Billed as the largest music products trade show in United States, NAMM brings together all facets of the music products industry, from new instruments to products to marketing ideas with more than 80,000 NAMM members and guests in attendance over four days. The opportunity to perform at such a huge event afforded Adjoa the massive exposure any artist would sell their soul for and she said it was “such a thrill to play for my peers and mentors. Most come to NAMM for music appreciation and it was so great to play and connect and network.”

Just two weeks prior to this writing, she was awarded Best Female Performance at the The So Cal Music Live Acoustic Competition, gaining the highest scores ever for the entire competition.
