on Myanmar troops of Hteinkan Camp, who have been forcibly collecting protection money from the people, killed at least 6 Myanmar soldiers. Hteinkan Camp is situated near Lwecheck village of Ta’ang Region in Namkham Township. The attacking troops were from Battalion 478 of the Ta’ang Army and the attack took place from 0510 to 0525 hours, on April 25. Myanmar troops under the command of MOC 16, after confiscating tea factory on the highway where the gas pipe line crossed near Mancheck (Lwecheck) village, have set it up as Hteinkan Camp and forcibly collected protection money from the people, who are using the highway. Three truck drivers, who were hauling charcoal from Minewee and taking rest at the camp after having narcotic drug together with the Myanmar soldiers, were wounded slightly in the attack. After attack on the camp, the Ta’ang troops attacked the militia camp of Manpan village, at 0630 hours, and captured 8 M-22 rifles, one carbine, one pistol and some narcotic drug. On April 23, a Myanmar military column seized and executed a Chinese, who was on his way back from Panhsay after buying narcotic drug. The Myanmar Army North-Eastern Command has formed and armed militia organizations with villagers in the region. Militia troops of these organizations are cooperating with militia troops of Namkham Town militia organization, under the command of a Chinese by the name of Aik San, who has split from Panhsay Kyaw Myint. The attack carried out by the Ta’ang Army troops was due to complaints by the local people. The town militia organization reportedly has given a Pajero SUV to each of the village militia organizations in the region for drug trafficking.
