Sheriff Joe Arpaio Raises $4.2 million
Totals from past 16 months; on pace to exceed 2012 cycle
PHOENIX, AZ – Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s re-election campaign today announced their fundraising haul thus far for the 2016 election cycle. The Elect Sheriff Joe Arpaio committee raised more than $4.2 million in the past 16 months, setting yet another record for a county race. The committee collected over 93,500 contributions, totaling $4,226.285.47. Based on these figures, the average contribution was approximately $45.00. Similar to last year’s effort, the overwhelming majority (99.9%) of the contributions received were under the old limits of $450 per person before the Arizona Supreme Court upheld the new limits of $5,000 per person. This means, in addition to adding thousands of new donors every month, the current donors have the capacity to give over and over again before reaching the maximum. Arpaio said, “Now I know for sure that I would have the financial backing to be competitive in this year’s race for Governor. I will be taking the next two weeks to determine if I am going to run. I know I will need the time to collect the requisite number of signatures to qualify for the ballot, but I believe that can be done rather quickly. Almost everywhere I go, people are encouraging me to run.”

Sheriff Joe Arpaio was re-elected to a sixth term in November 2012.
