Objective:
To teach the preschoolers about the letter W. Words and things that start with W and how they use it
these words in daily life.

Activities for Free Play: (15 min)

We are going to listen to the W song on story bots then discuss W words and read where the wild
things are.

Circle/Music/Good Bye: (20 min)

Sing the W song again, have show and tell and review the W words and talk about what we learned.

able to do? To learn what this letter sounds like, what it looks like and how to use it.
2. Rational: Why is this knowledge or skill important for children to know and be able to do at this age?
These basic skills are useful in daily communication, they can widen their vocabulary and become more
intelligent.
3. Activity: Describe in detail the activity you plan to do with these children.
We are going to watch story bots and in this video they will learn what this letter sounds like, what it
looks like and then I am going to ask them what words start with W that they saw in the video to see how
much they learned. After the W video we will read the book Where the Wild Things are and I will explain
the title and see if they understand that there are a lot of Ws in this book.

We will be in the classroom on the star rug in
a group facing the white board with all the
equipment needed for todays lesson.

It is important because these skills will help them remember what they learned.

The kids will be given 4 sets of paper with words and pictures on them. They will put the book
together and match the words with the pictures and color the pictures.

They will learn mixing substances can create cool exciting things. They will learn how soap and water react
to make bubbles and foam.
8. Rational: Why is this knowledge or skill important for children to know and be able to do at this age?
It gets them excited to learn more and it helps them build confidence knowing they can make new things.
9. Activity: Describe in detail the activity you plan to do with these children.
Each of the children will get some water and some soap. They will mix it in a tray and then they will make
their bubble blowers out of wires and wrap a paper towel around it so the bubbles become foam.

They will use these skills daily and develop them more in life and skill so it is important to practice.

First the kids will match large whales and try and find the whale that looks exactly the same. Then they
will get a fun colorful whale printout and match those on paper.

The kids will go into the commons and follow what the teacher says and copy what they see.
The second game, red light-green light the kids will be in control of how fast they reach the end
and they have to stop when the light is red and go when the light is green.

are making one.

They will remember what they learned better and will be able to use this technique with other
subjects.

Each child will get a plastic cup with holes punched in at the bottom. They will pick what beads they
want and decorate their wind chime and tie the string with beads through the holes.
