Assessment
of Learning
Diagnostic: For the first five minutes of class the students will brainstorm their
own ideas of what they think influences an economy. Once the time is up, the
students will be asked to complete a graffiti wall. In the front of the classroom
will be a piece of chart paper. In the middle of the paper will be written What
do you think influences an economy. Silently, they will write what they wrote
at the beginning of class. They can write questions, words, phrases, and draw
pictures related to the topic. This can be used as a pre-assessment.
Informal Formative: While students are working in their groups, the teacher
will rotate around the room and guide learners toward higher level thinking
through scaffold questioning. This will allow the teacher to assess how much
students are learning; provide opportunities for direct remediation, and/or
enrichment.
Formal Formative: Students will turn in their script for the teacher to check
before creating the video for their group.
Summative: The Economy Test
Introductory
Activities
Graffiti talk described in the diagnostic assessment section.
Learning
Strategies
-After the introductory activity, the teacher will introduce the Paper Slide Video
project by reading through the directions with students and showing them an
example video.
- Students will then work in assigned groups (groups are assigned according to
ability level and behavior)
- As students work, the teacher will rotate the room helping students.
- Once all students have finished recording the video, the teacher will show all
videos to the class.
Resources -Class notes on the Four Factors of Economic Growth
-Georgia Performance Standards website (www.georgiastandards.org)
Learner
Modification
s
-Modifications are in the product based on which business each group chooses.
-Groups are selected according to academic ability and behavior.
-Extended time will be provided for those who need more time to process.

on Study Island. This program identifies students strengths and weaknesses
and provides scaffolded activities according to the students ability level. This

Paper Slide Video Four Factors of Economic Growth

Imagine your group is going to start a business. Your group is going to create a product to be approved for a business
license. For approval, you must explain how your product will impact the economy, and therefore the GDP, of your
community. For this process, you will create a paper slide video that you will show to the Approval Committee.
Follow the steps below in order to achieve approval.

Steps to Success:
1. With your assigned group, review your Four Factors of Economic Growth class notes.
2. As a group, brainstorm a production cycle in which you are familiar (example: baking cookies).
3. Decide which factor each group member will create.
4. Write your script for each factor explaining how that factor can impact the GDP of your community. You
should have a minimum of 6 slides for your script:
(1) Introduction slide
(2) Human capital slide
(3) Capital good slide
(4) Resource slide
(5) Entrepreneur slide
(6) Conclusion slide
5. Turn in your script to your Social Studies teacher to review.
6. Once approved by the teacher, illustrate each slide.
7. Practice your presentation as a group-- Make sure you are ready! You will only record ONCE!!
8. When ready, record your presentation.
9. Submit to your teachers website
