behind a robust team that continued to thrive under the


leadership of her partner and by now, close friend Ilsiyar.
Within a year, their collective efforts had succeeded in
developing an organization of close to 800 people, including four
Gold leaders and more than 30 Silver Consultants. By
September, a Nikken satellite office was opened in the city, and
a significant number of local distributors attended the markets
annual convention in Moscow.
If there is a formula for Rimmas success, its clearly entwined
with her grassroots approach. She takes a personal interest in
building relationships with people, and travels around the world
to do so. In 2013 Rimma spent a total of six months in Kazan
and three months in Karaganda, in addition to visiting
Novosibirsk, Russia, and Shykmkent and Almaty in Kazakhstan.
Rimma believes in giving 100%, and it shows. When I started in
Karaganda, I worked 90 days straight. I didnt have time for
anything else. In Kazan it was four months, but for 90 days it
was a full-time job from early morning until midnight or 1 a.m.
Sometimes I had to stay up late for presentations. Maybe its a
sacrifice, but it never felt that way. I love and enjoy what I do,
and thats the best thing about it it isnt work when you love
what you do.
For 2014, the sky is the limit. My life changed when Nikken
Kazakhstan opened, she says. I have to plan my year in
advance now because I travel so much between Russia,
Kazakhstan and Canada to work with my teams. I dont stay in
one place. The jetsetter lifestyle agrees with Rimma, who loves
to travel. This year, Im thinking to work with my teams in
Karaganda and Kazan and help them expand around their cities.
They can do it, Rimma confides, aglow with a maternal pride
and affection. I just have to help them.
Despite her enviable success as an international entrepreneur,
Rimma has not forgotten what its like to be just starting out. I
dont think much has changed; Im still the same person. The
difference is Ive grown up with Nikken. I didnt initiate
conversations before; now I have a purpose to share what I
know, she says. She refuses to claim the sole credit for her

many accomplishments, quick to acknowledge others first.


I feel very gratified by my work in Karaganda and Kazan, but I
couldnt have done anything without the contributions of others.
My job is to share the message and show them the potential
they already possess, says Rimma. It was difficult starting in
new places where people didnt know me, but I think it worked
because they were already ready for the opportunity. Im not
better than any one of them. I just started earlier than they did,
but its up to them what theyre going to do with their lives.
That said, Rimma doesnt dismiss the effort it has taken to get
where she is today. Even as a Royal Diamond Consultant, she
makes it a goal to talk to people every day and to spend at least
30 minutes daily listening to audio recordings and reading books
for personal enrichment. She is active and intentional about
developing Gold leaders and organizing HBM trainings. And she
is constantly challenging herself to improve. Whenever I go
onstage or meet with people, its with the thought that maybe
today I can change someones life. I ask myself if I can do
anything better. Sponsors need to support their teams, especially
when they are new and need a lot of guidance. The uplines
purpose is to set an example, inspire and motivate them.
Rimma knows that the Nikken opportunity is uniquely
positioned to answer peoples needs. Our business provides a
lot of freedom compared to a factory or retail shop. You can
travel and not be bound to one place, she says. And its a way
to help people in need. They can improve their health. They can
travel to places theyve never been; afford many things they
couldnt before. I enjoy seeing people earn money and start to
change their lives. They tell me how they love it, and how their
Nikken paychecks are making possible things they could never
imagine before. It makes me happy for them. This is my 5 Pillars
of Health.
Rimma Kotlovskaya ascribes her most recent success to the
accomplishments of the two newest Diamond leaders in her
team, Olga Strelkova of Novosibirsk, Russia and Irina Tkhay of
Karaganda, Kazakhstan, and Toronto Royal Diamond Anna
Mayer. I thank my entire team for making the world better
around them, for their love for Nikken, and for all their effort. My
success is their success!
Recalling her early days as a new transplant to Canada
and newly single mother, Rimma is especially grateful to her
son Denis. He is my motivation. I wanted to show him that I
could build a business in Canada, and now I have an
international organization.

After 13 years of working Nikken part time, I
was able to leave my dental hygienist position and
become a full-time Consultant in January 2013.
Ron and I look forward to building our Nikken
business together when he retires from his CPA
firm in two years. For now, I contribute all my efforts
toward strengthening our status at the Platinum
level (and then at Diamond when Ron retires).
Wellness to us means freedom from physical
discomforts, allowing us to more successfully
handle stress. Being well enables the body to
work more efficiently, and is achieved by providing

find after experiencing my own health challenges.
My first appointment with a prospect is always
a one-on-one where I share material relevant to
their wants, which I learn by asking questions. The
next day I email them a bit more information about
what theyve told me interests them, and not what
I feel they need. I usually leave behind a demo
product for them to try, which also gives me a
valid reason to get back in touch. I ask them to
return the product to me at a Wellness Preview
event, where they can hear testimonials from
others to support the credibility of what Ive
already shared with them.
Afterward I ask them how they see Nikken
fitting into their lives, and always respect their
answer. Its important never to be afraid to call
them. In a world where nonverbal communication
methods have become so commonplace, many
people still enjoy and need conversation. It shows
how much you care.
Humans Being More training really causes
you to think about where you are in life and what
is really important what you really want to
achieve (or leave), and what commitments youre
willing to make to obtain that goal. Gold training

Before Nikken, I was a software industry


executive, an options trader, a business advisor
and, most importantly, a father. I had created a
successful life that then took a few large hits in
2008 and 2011.
I was introduced to Nikken by a friend. We
were enjoying lunches together with her friends at
Peruvian restaurants, which I assumed was her
favorite cuisine. It turned out that she and her
friends, Platinum Consultants Dr. John and
Annette Jackson, were looking for connections to
leverage the opening of Nikken Peru. At these
lunches, I started to become aware of the Nikken
opportunities. My friend later introduced me to
Diamonds Connie & Ron DAmico, Royal
Diamond Mac McDonald and other Nikken
leaders. I became convinced that Nikken was for
me and couldnt pass up the opportunity to live
my life aligned with my purpose.
If you were to ask me which is my favorite
Nikken product, Id say freedom. My daughters
and I value the technologies, but the greatest
benefits we enjoy from Nikken are the mental
freedom created by Humans Being More, the
time and money freedom created by the income

society.

Organized last fall by the Colombian Direct Selling
Association (ACOvEDI), an industry event entitled Direct
Selling: People, Opportunity and Hope One voice
featured Nikken Latin America Managing Director Luis
Kasuga as a guest speaker. He was invited to share his
experience in the direct selling industry, and spoke on the
advantages of this channel of distribution including the
positive economic impact on families and nations, with the
industrys international code of ethics as an enforceable
standard of behavior. More than 100 attendees gathered in
Bogota for the seminar, including those representing
vendors, academia, media and others.

Also in Bogota, Nikken Colombia commemorated its first


10 years with an event that brought together about 450
Consultants from all regions in the country. The celebration
included a day of recognition and a leadership workshop
followed by a closing gala and dinner party. Participants
enjoyed inspiring testimonials from Mexican Royal
Diamond Gloria Nava and her daughter, Platinum Paulina
villela. Special guests included international award-winning
author Dr. Camilo Cruz, as well as Luis Kasuga, Latin
American Commercial Director Gustavo Gomez and

Nikken UK honored the multitalented Sandra Clark for 15 years of service as of


November 2013. A shining example of a brilliant Nikken employee, Sandra began in the
warehouse administration department and demonstrated such flexibility and
commitment that she was promoted to courier liaison. Transferred to internal support
within the customer service department, Sandra has continued to serve tirelessly, setting
a standard of excellence that inspires and motivates her colleagues. Over the last few
years she has added receptionist and post room duties to her job description, always

omega 3 looks promising for alzheimers patients
New research from Karolinska Institutet in Sweden reveals that
omega 3 fatty acids in dietary supplements can cross the
blood-brain barrier in people with Alzheimer's disease, affecting
known markers for both the disease itself and inammation. The
ndings are presented in the Journal of Internal Medicine and
strengthen the evidence that omega 3 may provide measurable
benets. Earlier population studies indicate that omega 3 can
protect against Alzheimers, which makes it interesting to study
the effects of dietary supplements containing this group of fatty
acids in patients who have already developed the disease,
says the lead author, Dr. Yvonne Freund-Levi. (Science Daily,
December 4, 2013.)

Probiotics studied for use with autism


The composition of bacteria in the human gastrointestinal tract
has been correlated with differences in social and emotional
behavior. This relationship inspired an investigation conducted
at the California Institute of Technology, to examine the
inuence of probiotic microorganisms on laboratory mice that
present autism-like traits. These mice possess an intestinal
permeability similar to that found in some autistic individuals.
When given a probiotic, the animals permeability was
corrected and their autism-type behaviors were alleviated. Our
work shows that gut bacteria may contribute to ASD [autismspectrum disorder] -like symptoms in ways that were previously
unappreciated, said Caltech professor of biology Sarkis K.
Mazmanian. Gut physiology appears to have effects on what
are currently presumed to be brain functions. The study is
published in the journal Cell. (Medical News Today, December

that these may be a factor in weight management, in ways
previously undocumented. A randomized, double-blind
placebo-controlled study was conducted with patients admitted

microorganisms as weight-management tool?


Research published this year in The New England Journal of
Medicine analyzed a huge pool of data the reported eating
habits of more than 120,000 subjects to look for common
factors that may be related to obesity control. Of all the dietary
items apparently linked with weight loss or weight
management, one especially stood out: yogurt. Scientists are
not certain why this food can be so consistently correlated with
thinness but suspect that its beneficial probiotics are behind
the connection. Yet this is likely not a foolproof program for
managing weight, as there have been no studies to determine
how much yogurt might be the ideal amount in providing
probiotics without adding too many calories. (Forbes, May 2,

The rise of modern, large-scale cultivation methods and
genetically modied crops might make us think that the poor
nutritional content in todays food is a relatively recent
phenomenon. Not so, said an intriguing article in the New York
Times. The nutrient value in what we eat began to decrease
thousands of years ago, as farmers developed strains that were
more palatable to human taste buds. Times writer Jo Robinson
explains that benecial phytonutrients in many plants tended to
have a slightly bitter or sour avor. As techniques in agriculture
improved, these varieties were replaced by others that were
sweeter, but lower in ber and vitamins while comprising more
starch and oil. One example is corn. Its wild ancestors
contained 10 times the protein and nearly 60 times more beta
carotene than the present-day variant, which can be as much
as 40 percent sugar. (New York Times, May 26, 2013.)

Probiotics may also be of value in dealing with the widespread


allergic reaction known as hay fever, according to clinicians at
the Institute of Food Research and Britains University of East
Anglia. They administered a probiotic-containing drink to 60 hay
fever sufferers daily for 16 weeks, and a control group received
the same beverage without the bacterium. Afterward, when
challenged with pollen, those who had consumed the probiotic
mixture exhibited changes in their nasal lining and bloodstream
that are associated with immune response. As recounted in the
journal PLOS ONE, this may offer insight into how probiotics
interact with cells in the intestine to produce systemic changes.

dotes on his baby brother Kyler, a happy and rambunctious 18month-old who already tips the scales at a robust 31 pounds!

Paige was pregnant with Kyler when she cohosted a Healthy Child
Healthy World party with mom of three Kandy Glass, a Senior
Consultant in her organization. We put together gift bags for the
guests and had tables set up with different products. This fun,
informal event involving both moms and dads included a 15-minute
presentation from Rick. Everyone is looking to create a healthier
home environment, so this is a great way to introduce people to

started bringing in their friends to drink PiMag water, she
marvels. In fact, the students in Shalyns wellness classroom
experienced the lowest absenteeism and the highest
improvement in test scores in the school. Since that first
success, many Nikken Consultants around the world have
placed wellness technologies in their local schools.
To Pam and Sharna, the new wellness classrooms installed at
Wingate Elementary are a major step in the right direction for
a community that is largely populated by low-income families
who wouldnt otherwise have the opportunity or access to
Nikken technologies.

As clinical psychologists working in an educational setting,


Drs. Sharna Sutherin and Pamela Burgess have been sharing
Nikken technologies with students for about 15 years.
Currently, the Platinum-level partners work with a group that
provides special education services for numerous schools in
their local Navajo reservation. Students at one school in
particular now have the added advantage of experiencing
Nikken technologies daily in their classrooms.

Wingate Elementary School in Ft. Wingate, New Mexico


recently had unspent Part B monies federal funds allocated
for services and assistive technologies to support the
educational needs of children with disabilities. Having been
introduced to Nikken technologies by Sharna and Pam, the
school expressed interest in purchasing its own Nikken
products. The idea of wellness classrooms was first
developed about six years ago by Shalyn Rocha, Silver
Consultant and daughter of Sharna and Pam.
Sharna shares the impressive results Shalyn achieved with her
students. Kids stopped drinking from the fountains and

dormitories where some of the students reside during the
week. And each of the three resource classrooms boasts one
Air Wellness system, two KenkoLight lamps and 10
KenkoSeat II pads. An additional KenkoLight lamp is used
in the classroom of a teacher who has sensitivity to the
fluorescent lighting. The school retains an extra set of the
same items on campus, made available on loan to students in
the regular education classrooms. Whats more, the school
also owns a Kenko PowerBand 21-pack, and students are
invited to wear the neck and wrist bands throughout the
school day.

office, etc. If we feel a connection with someone, the first thing


we do is find out if they are looking for a change in their life
and then whether Nikken can answer their needs.

The wellness classrooms are occupied by students with highenergy issues, attention concerns, speech and language issues,
low-cognitive function, fetal drug and alcohol exposure, anxiety,
depression, learning issues and anger management deficits. Their
abilities vary, but Pam and Sharna have confidence that the
children will see significant benefits.

The couple also works with the local chamber of commerce to


network with like-minded people. Were meeting other
entrepreneurs in our community, and were finding some interest
there, says Sharna. Even if the people we meet through the
chamber of commerce dont become directly involved with
Nikken, they often become customers and create referrals for
others in the community who may be seeking what we have to
offer.

This is the difference between making a wellness home for


myself and helping someone else create their own wellness
home, says Pam. About 40 kids are benefiting, and its creating
a conversation about wellness in a community where unhealthy
lifestyles, diabetes, obesity and other health concerns are
rampant. Educating these families about health makes a huge
difference its a combination of the healthy society and healthy
body pillars. I get excited about watching them learn and take
ownership of their own well being.
The future of the world is in the hands of our children, adds
Sharna. Its a way for us to participate in our communities and
empower our children to be all they can. The wellness classrooms
embody the Humans Being More philosophy in working with
children.

We believe its so important to get the message out to


everyone, Pam asserts. Were not just building up Nikken in the
school. We share with everyone we possibly can; someone in line
at grocery store, people we encounter at the chiropractor or vets

Over the past year and half, Pam and Sharna have begun
mentoring with Royal Ambassador Dennis Estes. In terms of
business development, finding a mentor we feel comfortable with
has been invaluable, raves Sharna. Its probably the biggest
thing weve done to really explode our business.
As the couple celebrates their two children (including son Nathan,
also a Nikken Consultant), eight grandchildren and 31 years
together this January, theyve set their sights on reaching the
Diamond rank in time to be recognized at the 2015 Nikken
celebration.

Sharna and Pam began with Nikken primarily as product users in


1996, when Sharna was suffering with Lyme disease. Introduced
to the technologies by someone in their church, Sharna was able
to sleep through the night for the first time after years of sleep
struggles. About nine years ago, the pair decided to begin
building their business in earnest as they began to approach
retirement. But its clear that Nikken is more than just a business
opportunity to this Platinum couple.

Qualifications for Membership
in order to be eligible for membership in the nikken
Presidents club, applicants must:
1. Exemplify the Nikken spirit and philosophy.
2. Build a networking organization exclusively with Nikken.
3. Subscribe to Nikken Autoship and myNikken Premier.
4. Reach Platinum rank by creating new volume. (Purchase
of another distributorship to advance in rank does not
