Topic Similarities between the Old English words and the Modern German. Student: Donald Romero O Professor: David Villalobos 2009

Wilcume( Old English) Willkommen( Moder German) 

Both words start with the leters ³w´,´i´ and ³l´. In the beginning, both words sound in the same way. They sound ³uil´ Both have the same meaning .  

Min( Old English) M in ( Moder German) 

Both words begin with the leters ´ M´. The last two leters of each words(in) have the same sound and write in the same way. They sound ³in´, and both words meaning the same, and both meaning the same. 

Broðor min( Old English ) Bruder( Moder German)

Both words are similar in the two first leters ( b,r).  Both of them meaning the same. 


In the beginning of the two words, the three first leters are similar in the pronunciation.

Nama( Old English ) Name ( Moder German ) 

Both words are similar in the three first leters ( n, a, m). The three first syllables of both words have the same pronunciation. They sound ³nam´. 

Is( Old English) Ist( Moder German ) 

Both words are similar at the time to pronounce these. They sound ³is´. The word ³is´ in the old English is shared in the word of the moder German. 

Heofonum( Old English ) Himmel( Moder German )
Both have the same meaning. In the biginning, both share the leter ³h´. The two first leters in both words share the same pronunciation. They sound ³gé´.   

Forgyfoð(Old English)--------Vergebe( Moder English)--------Vergebe( German) 

Both share some leters such as: ³r´ and ³g´. The leters ³y´ and ³f´ in the Old Englisd word, and the leters ³e´ and ³b´ in the moder german that are located after the leter ³g´, are pronounced in the same way. They sound ³ if´. 

Eorðan( Old English ) Erde(Moder German) 

They are similar in the pronounciation of the first leter (e), and both leters share the same structure.

Boga( Old English ) Bogen( Moder German ) 

Just in the beginning, both words begin with the leters ³ b, o, g´. These same leters(b, o, g) are pronounced in the same way. These words sound ³bog´.  

Cunnan( Old English ) Kennen( Moder German )
Both share the pronounciation in the first leters ( c and k). They meanning the same( know).
