Mojave National Preserve Conservancy

Minutes of the BOD Meeting
March 18, 2014

Conservancy Board Members present on call: David Lamfrom, Dennis Schramm, Lynn Davis,
Michael Gordon

Meeting commenced at 5:40pm.

David opened with offer to have a discussion about what we want to be involved with this year.

MNPC Financials: Updated statement as of March 13. David reported a balance of $9602.02 for
period ending Jan. 1, 2014.

Star Party/Service Event: Are we doing a star party event this spring? Nothing scheduled yet.
April too soon to plan for now. May might work. Best date for moon issues is May 31-31.
Memorial day is May 26th. A really great group event occurred in February. About 30 people
showed up for a cleanup near Baker.

CDPA 20th Anniversary Celebration: Table conversation until Linda is able to join. Large
celebration is being planned at Joshua Tree to celebrate the CDPA.

Board members: We should continue to seek out additional board members to round out our
board with other skills. Lynn suggested we ask Ben about a media individual's spouse she is
familiar with. David had another suggestion as well. Discussed other options including seeking
out students in Barstow. We all need to continue to look for qualified and interested people.

Hikes: Lynn mentioned idea of us sponsoring a hiking leader to get people out into park. Using
meet-ups is one possibility. Michael mentioned being interested in starting a meet-up for
Mojave. He will look into the process. David mentioned possibility of photography workshop.
Michael liked the idea.

Newsletter: Do we want to do one? Yes. Target an early May completion date. Advertise star
party. Article on last cleanup? Lynn mentioned possibility of just doing a web version this time.
Could then do a postcard with important dates. How do we broaden our outreach with it? What
about doing a fall newsletter and taking a different approach? Could possibly use information
that is already written if we get permission.

Board adjourned at 6:40pm. Next meeting is Tuesday, April 15th at 5:30pm
