Castle Model or Poster Rubric – World History Pre-AP - Mr.

CASTLE PROJECT NAME: _____________________________________________________
Each aspect of the castle is graded on a scale. The highest score in the range means that the student was complete
and had a total command over the area graded. Zero means that the aspect was missing or completely wrong. Totals
in between denote amount of success in the category. Sixty points of the project is the product (castle model or
poster - 30) and presentation (30). The essay is worth forty points.

Heading and Title:
(Each group member’s name, the date, period, and class (World History Pre-AP Duez) will be in the
heading and the poster or model is labeled with the heading. There is a name for your castle that is
clearly apparent and readable.)
Design of the Castle - Choose either a Poster or Model
(Poster: The design must be complete and detailed and must
give the viewer a true sense of what the castle will look like
when it is actually built.
Model: Must be able to fit on top of a desk in the classroom.
Do not make them too big – I will take 10 points off! The castle
needs to be built well enough to survive the trip from your
house to school. A castle that falls apart once it gets here is
hard to grade.
BOTH: Choose a location for your castle – it should be an actual place on the world map. Research
that location and design a castle that would protect it.)

Coat of Arms
(It is a shield. It must include at least two symbols to represent your royal family. Shield must be in
color. Can be on your castle, but MUST also be on a separate sheet of paper. It will be collected
and graded separately from the castle model or poster.)

Explain the story of your castle and how it compares to the real world castle that you have written
the essay about.
