Explores methods and materials for teaching mathematics to linguistically and culturally diverse
elementary school students. $eview of mathematics curriculum, classroom organization,
assessment, and guided experiences in teaching mathematics.
EED 777: Curriculum and /nstruction in Science 3 units
)lanning, developing, teaching, and evaluating learning experiences in science. Foci for
teaching elementary school science will "e on scientific literacy, reflective practice, and equity.
*nclass activities and course pro+ects are organized( to provide opportunities to develop and
teach inquiry"ased science lessons; to demonstrate understanding of the nature of science,

!his is the second semester field experience in a pu"lic elementary school under the guidance of
a %upervising !eacher and #niversity %upervisor. !he multiple roles of teaching are planned,
practiced and assessed at this )hase ** level. 1$231 grade only.

!his is the second of three phases of developmental field experiences and seminar in a pu"lic
elementary. *t must "e taken concurrently with EED /67 and second semester methods courses.
*t is the continuation of the )hase * %eminar. 1$231 grade only.

!his is full time student teaching in the final semester at a pu"lic elementary school under the
guidance of a %upervising !eacher and #niversity %upervisor. Four days a week for the entire
semester, including solo teaching. 1$231 grade only.

!his is the final student teaching seminar. *t is the continuation of %eminar **. Emphasis is on
fulltime student teaching responsi"ilities. 1$231 grade only.

performance in preparing students for college and for the workplace, and regain the pu"lic trust our
schools have "een losing over the past several decades. *n this lecture, )rofessor >ong Fillmore will
discuss the need for the 1ommon 1ore standards, some of the controversies surrounding their adoption,
what they require of schools, teachers, and students, and some instructional strategies to make a
common core aligned curriculum accessi"le for all students, including English learners.
