Description
:
Elephant can be openly traded in Punjab, as per the Punjab Cattle Fairs
(Regulation) Act, 1967. Act No : 6 of 1968, like wise same position was in
Haryana but due to tireless service and efforts of Naresh Kadyan and Abhishek
Kadyan including Sukanya Kadyan, the Govt. of Haryana was compelled to
amend their Cattle Fairs Act. The United Nation affiliated OIPA - Indian People
for Animals director programme Miss Sukanya Kadyan managed online
petition, which was duly signed by as many as 11,000 peoples all around this
Universe but till today elephant can be traded in Punjab, as per information
gather from the Department, they are accepting our demands and work is under
process, hence Chief Secretary to the Govt. of Punjab may kindly be directed for
immediate action and amendment in the Punjab Cattle Fairs (Regulation) Act,
1967. Act No : 6 of 1968 deleting elephant word from the definition, as Govt. of
Haryana deleted on our demands, accepted our objections. Please find attached
here with the Punjab State Forest Policy and Strategic Plan (2008-2017) but it is
on the paper only, where as point No. 5.4 explain about wildlife conservation,
Illegal Trade in wildlife and wildlife products from with in the state and
passing through the State should be strictly prevented. Hence said plan needs to
be implemented, illegal tree cutting needs attention and immediately be stopped
