Three things that make you
safe on the road
HAS TRANSPORTATION TUESDAY CHANGED YOUR ATTITUDE?
SAFE ATTITUDE … means never overtaking
a vehicle stopped at a pedestrian crossing
after a NO OVERTAKING sign (wait until you pass
a sign canceling the restriction)
when you are not 100% safe, eg approaching
a corner or bend
a bridge or hill
on the shoulder (the Landcruiser lane is for losers)
if you will cause conflict with other road users
approaching road works (traffic cones are a good clue)
near a school (never pass a school bus surrounded by children)
queuing traffic (you can’t know what they’re queuing for)
changes in the white lines will
help you anticipate these hazards
remember … if the slower
lane beside you is empty ...
move into it and let other
vehicles pass you
AVOIDING COLLISIONS AT INTERSECTIONS
Technically, you have the right of way, but
the other driver does not yield. What do
Ignore him. Proceed as
planned. He needs to
learn the rules of the
Let him pass. There is
no point risking a crash
to prove a point.
SHOW YOUR FRIENDLY ATTITUDE
this is you
Remember the little guy ...
High in your truck or protected by your airbags you
probably feel superior, safe and secure.
So spare a thought for those on the road who are
smaller than you … motorbike riders and cyclists have
their rights too.
HAVE A CONSIDERATE ATTITUDE
When a 200lb person collides
with a 2000lb moving vehicle,
there is no doubt the person
will come off worst
DRIVE WITH A PEDESTRIAN’S ATTITUDE
It doesn’t matter how good a
driver you are. The faster
you go, the longer it takes
you to stop.
