Helping Children With Cancer

Cancer affects families all around the world everyday, their lifestyles change
because of it. Cancer also affects childrens well-being; some people dont
understand how hard it is for people that have cancer. Communicating with
people can change their perspective about cancer, and it can also persuade them
to help with it. Many people are willing to help, but dont realize how too. There
are many ways to help this cause. Cancer affects childrens lives, and people
dont realize how to help.

Cancer can affect and change peoples lifestyles in many ways. People with
cancer depend on each other to get better. For example: People with cancer have
to follow what the doctors says about some new treatments that they will
require to get better, doctors should try their best attempt so the disease can go
away. They also depend on their family and friends to encourage them and help
them out, be with them whenever they need it. (1) It changes his or her lifestyles
because you arent independent anymore, you need someone with you to help
you out, and be with you when you need it. There are consequences for the
people that have cancer, their family and friends. People feel scared, upset, and
hopeless when they hear they are diagnosed with cancer, but it does get better.
(1), This was said by a cancer survivor, who is trying to encourage people with
cancer and let them know that they are not alone. (2) Hearing that you are
diagnosed with cancer can change your life forever, it is an issue you have to
pass through, and its hard for you and your family. Cancer is very different from
other diseases; it destroys people quicker and easier than others. (3) If its
detected with time it is easier to treat so it can go away, this is why people such
as the Schools Nurse recommend us to go continually to the doctor and do a
check-up. Cancer can also affect your communication with other people because
you feel different. (1) They cant distract themselves; they pass all day thinking
about their disease. It affects your growth in someway, (3) because you cant
concentrate in anything else, but your condition. People with cancer have
additional rights such as: The right to frequently know about your disease, the
right of privacy when you need it, etc. (4) They have additional rights because
they need someone to treat them, and support them. People with cancer also
have additional responsibilities, such as: responding questions that the doctor
needs to know about the disease and how you feel, Respect the rights of other
people in the hospital. (4) Some people get really angry or are in disbelief, they
are sensitive towards cancer, when they hear they are diagnosed with it. Many
people refuse to know this is happening to them, so they get angry, sometimes
with the doctor, or even with themselves. This is why they need to have the
responsibility of respecting other people in the hospital. Cancer doesnt only
affect childrens lifestyles, but also their well-being as a child. This topic is
introduced more briefly in the next paragraph.

Cancer affects childrens well-being. Its really hard to be young and hearing that
you have cancer, you have to be really strong. When you have cancer, you need
someone with you, to encourage you. (1) If no one goes and helps children with
cancer, they would get sad and worse everyday. It is proved that when people
are happy, they get better quicker. (17) Interaction with other people also
changes for them. They feel that they are different than other people that are
healthy. (2) This affects their social well-being; they dont want to interact with
people anymore. Having cancer affects you in many ways. (2) Emotionally, you
feel sad or confused; you wonder why this is happening to you. Socially, you feel
different; you dont want to interact with other people. Mentally, because you
cant distract yourself, you are constantly thinking about you condition. People
with cancer need someone that can help them, someone that can be
understanding towards their situation.

People with cancer need someones shoulder to cry on, someone that can
encourage him or her, that can let them know that they arent alone. When
someone sees a person that has cancer, they would most likely feel bad and go
right away and try to help. Some people will just treat them like a normal person,
because thats what they would like people to do if it was the other way around,
and they were sick. Others would let them know that they arent alone in this.
People would like to cheer them up. All of these are opinions of some of the
people that I interviewed. (5,6,7,8,9,10, 11.) Many people would like to make that
person feel better, and tell them to live life for the moment, because everything
else is uncertain, this is really important and true. Everybody should try to be
understanding towards the people that have cancer, their family and friends (1).
You have to understand that it is really hard for them. People should try to talk
with them, try to distract them for a moment and make them happy. I got to
interview several people and got to know their perspectives about the topic.
People always like to help cancer and children with cancer the way they can.
They know it is a problem and that it is really hard to go through this for
everyone. Many people would like to help, but, like always, there are people who
dont understand that cancer can be a big issue. Communication can change
peoples perspectives about it.

Communication can persuade people to help with a certain issue. First we have
to know what are peoples opinions about it. Almost all of the people I had an
interview with think is a horrible disease, and that it is really sad, they feel sorry.
People want it to be gone. They hope that soon theyll find a cure for cancer.
Almost everyone would feel bad or sorry for a person that has cancer.
(12,13,14,15) People know that is really hard going through this situation, and
they admire how strong people with cancer are by having such a horrible disease
and can still smile and have moments of happiness in their lives. Some people
with cancer dont want to talk with anybody when they know they have cancer,
they feel that they arent normal people. (2) This is why people should help, but
some people dont think its a big issue, communicating can change what they
feel, not just the people that dont want to help perspective, but also children
with cancer. This drives us to another question Are people being fair about
cancer? some people say that most of the people are, because they realize that is
a big issue, and that it is hard to go through cancer. Organizations always try to
make activities to get money and help. Other people say that they arent being
fair, because if they cared a lot then they wouldve already found a cure for
cancer, and more people wouldve help. (6,10,15,16) We should communicate
with the people that dont know about it, and let them know that cancer is an
issue; communication can persuade them to help as well. Many people are
willing to help, but dont realize how to, this is why some people dont help.

People are willing to help children with cancer, but dont realize how to, or dont
know whats the best way to help. I asked several people what was the best way
to help for them and what would they do to help. Some people said that they
would run, others said they have prayed. People said that the best way to help
was to donate hair, money, or even your own time. You can raise awareness, and
persuade people to do more research. (7,10,14,18). This and many other actions
can help people with cancer. People should try to help more, and start realizing
that there is so much they can do. Ive done many actions to help with cancer.
Ive attended runs, donated my hair, donated money, raised awareness, and now,
Im doing this project about cancer. I do these things because I know people with
cancer need help, its really hard for them and even though all of that is
happening in their lives, they still smile. With a little action you can create
something so big. It is just like a domino one action, can encourage many people
to do the same, and help.

Cancer affects families all around the world, everybody knows someone that has
or had cancer. Cancer can affect peoples lifestyles in many ways. Their well-
being also gets affected, maybe emotionally, physically, socially, or all of them.
Some people are not as understanding towards people that are going through
this; they dont understand how hard it is for them and their family members.
Communication can change peoples perspectives, you can convince them that
something bad is good, or that something good is bad, or something useless is
useful. There are many ways to help, such as attending walks, donating money or
hair, volunteering, etc. Some organizations that help with cancer are: Relay for
Life, Fanlyc, Make a Wish, Ronald McDonalds House, Lucks of Love, etc. Cancer
can affect childrens lives, and some people dont realize how to help.
