Everett: William Mack Davis has a connection to my Everett - Rayner line. See Attached. His mother was most likely Frances (Fanny) Fagan Blount Davis. He married Mary, +the widow of John Howcutt and died circa 1750, From Eugene Chesson ‘gchesson@cableonenet» Subject: Mackey (and Fagan)You can pass on to Janice L. Mackey ‘that my ancestry includes early Mackeys. John Chesson (c 1777-1835) m. Mary Mackey (c 1784-c 1822) who was the daughter of William Mackey ( -bef 1795) and Suzannah Walker (-) and the gronddaughter of William Mackey (ca 1700- ¢ 1766) and Joanna Swain (1715- bef 1765). T would like to determine better dates for the above os well as any earlier Mackey relations, In addition, T have early Fagan interests, typically prior to 1800 ‘and would like to develop that line a bit better as well, My grandfather and great grandfathers were both named Friley Fagan Chesson and I believe (but can not yet prove) that came from Nathaniel Chesson (1800-bef 1870) marrying Leah Fagan (¢ 1801- ) daughter of Stephen Fagan (ca 1785- est 1813) who descended from Bedford Fagan whose father was Richard Fagan. The WC6S May issue had considerable later Fagan info. Gene Chesson (520) 778-6789 - Gene later ‘added: Frankly, I know very little about my early Fagan ancestors and thus do not know whether ‘they may have owned slaves. Tt has been some +ime since I worked on that line but T don't recall +that they were particularly well-to-do in terms of land holdings, estates, wills, etc. Records that I have been able to access have not provided a lot of detail and it took me some time to infer that the Leah whe married Nathaniel Chesson was likely @ Fagan, daughter of Stephen. But such is the challenge of genealogy and family history! And: T checked the copies of Fagan wills in my files. Enoch Fagan 16 Jan 1777 mentions "negros" but no names: Levi Fagan 1 Oct 1837 mentions "negro boy, Cesa Tune july 2001 Richard Fagan 29 Nov 1773 mentions "negro man, Season, negro garle, Thina, negro girl, Nanny, negro girle, Bess, negro woman , Buck." Sarah Fagan, 23 Jul 1780 mentions "negroe wench, Barbary"and "boy named Holloway." Stephen Fagan 24 Dec 1810 mentions “negroes Esther, Henry, Rose, Peter, and May" Inventory of William Fagan March 1759 mentions "negro girl, Sue, negro boy, Peter” From Barbara M. Revels: ‘DB21-503: Restatement of a marriage [contract between Frances R. Ely of Washington Co, INC and Frances (Fanny) A. C. Randolph dated April 19, 1835, this Jan. 19, 1837. Soon he learned that the chap who bid him “come in’ was a Mason and straight way he recalled that he once taught a man by the name of Clyde Mason in Mount Pleasant schoo! in Washington County. That Clyde Mason was the father of the chap to whom he was talking, The old gentleman also knew the rest of the Mason family ‘end a lot more people in Washington and Tyrrell counties and the unusual thing about it is that he still remembers their first names. Mr. Shaw is on Elder of the Primitive Baptist belief ond through 22 states, over a period of 40 years he has preached this gospel. He taught 20 years during his early manhood in Washington, Beaufort, Wilson, Tyrrell and Pasquotank counties. One thing he recalled about his school boy days was that he was a classmate of Judge L.
