DEMONSTRATION-I
AIM ;To have the motion in a charged particle in a perpendicular magnetic field. THEORY ;We know that a charged particle in motion experience a centripetal force. F=q(V B)

When placed in a perpendicular magnetic field. The direction of motion could be clockwise or anti-clockwise depending on the direction of motion of the charged particles. The direction of force acting on the charged particles could be predicted using Flemming’s Left Hand Rule. APPARATUS ;A transparent dish, salt, water, battery, eliminator, connecting wives.

• •

PROCEDURE ;Salt is dissolved in water, which ionize into sodium and chlorine. A –ve and a +ve electrode are placed in the solution. The ions start doffing towards the opposite electrode. The dish in which the electrolysis is carried out is placed over a strong magnet. The charged ions, start moving in a circular fashion as the charged particles in the cyclotron. APPLICATION ;This demonstration help the students to understand and visualize the motion of charged particles in the magnetic field.

DEMONSTRATION-II
AIM ;To observe force on a current carrying conductor. APPARATUS ;Aluminium Foil, Strong magnet, connecting wives. PRINCIPAL ;When a current carrying conductor is placed in Magnetic field, it experiences some force because of the fact that current means charges in motion and moving charge experience force. The expression for force, F=ILBSin If , then F=ILB

PROCEDURE ;Force experienced by the conductor depends on I, L and B. Normally conductors are heavy to visualize the effect. In to overcome this difficulty on aluminium foil is used as a conductor which is very light and flexible to visualize the effect of force. As the current is switched on, the force makes the conductor to move in the directions of force which is in agreement with flemming’s left hand rule. Changing the direction of current the direction of Force on the conductor also changes.
