GENERAL SPECIFICATION
BASIN
The basin shall be made of heavy galvanized steel sheet. This section include make up,
drain, suction, Overflow and quick fill connections.
FAN SECTION
Forwardly - curved centrifugal fans are used for quiet operation. The bearings are self
aligning sleev - type. On all units, the fan section is flange for inlet duct work.
WET DECK SURFACE
The wet- deck surface is special wave - formed hot dip galvanized steel sheets
designed to give maximum contact between the water and air.
SPRAYTREE
The spray tree consists of a hot dip galvanized steel headers with galvanized branches.
Closely spaced brass nozzles assure complete and full water coverage over the entire
wet deck area.
ELIMINATORS
Moisture eliminators are made of hot - dip galvanized steel and have three break with a
hooked leaving edge.

GENERALSPECIFICATION
CASING AND BASINS
Casings and basins on all models are fabricated of heavy gauge galvanized steel.
Bolted construction on all models permits easy, quick disassembly and reassembly if
desired. Internal bracing strengthens tower structures. Fan venturi is die-formed in
front casing panels. Air inlet screens are standard equipment on all models. Hot water
basin covers are standard on models. Optional on all other models .Access panels are
provided in all models.
FILLING

MEHKOOH filling design utilizes more lifetime wood filling with more wetted
surface than other packaged towers of comparable rated capacity. This assures longer
air- water contact and more efficient water cooling. Nailiess design eliminates
warping, sagging and cracking. Alignment of filling is maintained permanently in all
models. Heavy steel platforms midway in height of fill cube maintain filling level in
these taller towers.
Air intake louvers and drift eliminators are provided as integral parts of filling
assembly on all models. Diffusion decks are located directly above filling; they assure
uniform water distribution in all parts of cooling chamber.
GRAVITY WATER DISTRIBUTION
All cooling towers utilize gravity water distribution from basins above the filling. This
feature minimizes pump head and operating horsepower requirements; permits easy,
quick inspection and maintenance. Anti-splash ring in center of distribution basin
controls turbulence of incoming hot water.
MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT
Heavy duty mechanical equipment includes Mehkooh's time-proven geareducer.
The motor is at right -angle to the fan shaft and installed outside the moist ,corrosive
air stream. (from models 330 t010002D) large horsepower capacity and high speed
reduction ratios are applied with a safety factor that assures long operating service in
the torturous & corrosive atmospheres of cooling towers.
models 17 to 2702 S are V-belt driven are mounted on top of the towers. motors
supplied are totally enclosed drip-proof. 1 P-54 class B or F as required
BASIN FIXTURES
All models are equipped with automatic make-up water control valve .overflow , drain
and suction fittings. Suction fittings are equipped with debris screens.
FINISH
All towers are hot dip galvanized after fabrication, providing a finish on both interior
and exterior of towers which is recognized for durability and long, maintenance-free
service life.

INTRODUCTION
NOMINAL COOLING CAPACITY: 20-320 (TR)
MEHKOOH series liquid chillers are compact and energy Efficient. designed for
use in comfort air conditioning and Industrial cooling processes.
MRLCW units are complete packaged units chilling water or Brine.
MRLCA units require remote air cooled condensers.
They too provide chilled water or brine.
All models Equipped by carrier heavy duty Compressors to allow higher saturated
discharge temperature For heat reclaim duty.
All models, these are one piece factory Assembled packages.
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
The MEHKOOH philosophy is to provide a full range of highly efficient. reliable
chillers applicable to many duties and built. Factory or field installed options and
accessories tailor the standard products to particular needs.
DUAL REFRIGERATION CIRCUITS (40.2 TO 320.8)
In these models one Circuit can continue to operate when the second is being
serviced important in peak season comfort cooling and vital in many industrial
cooling applications.
LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION
Most chillers run at less than full Capacity for most of the time. Energy efficiency
under these conditions of changing part load is thus more important than absolute
efficiency at full load. The MEHKOOH philosophy is to Provide as many steps of
control as possible and to use the best Combination of carrier compressors at each
step to achieve.
OPTIMUM ENERGY USAGE
Carrier high performance compressors are matched to MEHKOOH High efficiency
heat exchangers. These vital components are MEHKOOH designed. MEHKOOH
built and tested by quality Control department. Here components and complete
units are run and tested under real life conditions to prove the MEHKOOH design
philosophy.

FEATURES OF MEHKOOH CHILLERS


All models use multiple Carrier easy-to-service semi-hermetic Compressors. In all
models a multi step thermostat activates the Compressors and compressor
unloaders (option) to changing load.
- A step controller starts and stops compressors to ensure least power usage as the
load changes.
- A switch changes the compressor starting sequence in order to balance the service
frequency.
- Water flow switch shuts down the unit if the cooling water flow is interrupted.
- Over current protection devices in all three phases protect the compressors. They
trip manually-reset circuit breakers.
- Isolators absorb any compressor vibration.
- Built in sub coolers increase energy efficiency.
- Crankcase heaters prevent liquid refrigerant from accumulating in the
compressors when the unit is shut down.
- High and low pressure switches a low temperature cut-out.
- Controls and indicators are including in the electrical panel.
- Oil pressure switches are standard on all units.
- Compressors are protected by a high discharge temperature.
- Filter -driers collect impurities in the refrigeration circuits.
- Liquid line sight glasses show the amount of moisture mixed with the refrigerant.

SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
Many options are available to adapt MEHKOOH chiller for Special applications.
For heat reclaim heavy duty compressors allow higher condenser Leaving water
temperature.
MRLCW chillers have heavy-duty compressors. and special heat reclaim
condensers each with two separate circuits on the water side are also offered. one
side is connected to a heating circuit. The other to a cooling tower. Lower capacity
machines have one refrigerant circuit: others have two refrigerant circuits.
A comprehensive range of factory supplied options adapts Standard chillers for:
- Brine cooling down to -20C
- Operation with different refrigerants (R134a, R407c, R404a)
- Heat exchangers made of special metals (e.g.Cu/Ni 90/10 etc.)
- Three-or six-pass/condensers.
- Special power supplies.
AIR COOLED CHILLER CONDENSER REQUIREMENTS
1. Ensure each refrigerant circuit its own pressure control.
2. Condenser must provide 8.5C sub cooling, a maximum of 22 degrees difference
between saturated condensing temperature & outdoor ambient temperature (to
prevent overload at high ambient temperatures) and a minimum of 11C difference
(to assure sub cooling).
3. Do not manifold independent refrigerant circuits in to single condenser.
4. Condenser should not be located more than 15 meter below chiller to maintain
sub cooling.

5. Design discharge and liquid piping per ASHREA system design manual.

INTRODUCTION
Quality design and construction make MEHKOOH TAHVIEH's air-cooled and
water-cooled chillers with screw compressors (MSLC) units your preferred choice.
The MSLC units have a quite, low-vibration design featuring screw compressors to
reduce sound levels and improve sound quality designed for comfort air
conditioning and industrial cooling processes. Efficiency level of the MSLC units
exceed average industry standards for both full and part load application ,thus
Saving the operating costs, through lower electrical consumption. The MSLC
controls are fully automatic. The leaving fluid temperature is directly controlled
and entering fluid temperature is continually monitored to detect load and flow
change .This combination provides the most precise temperature control available.
All units provide with BITZER screw compressors. Bitzer compact screws are of
two shaft rotary displacement design with a newly-developed profile geometry
(tooth ratio 5:6) the main parts of these compressors are the two rotors (male and
female rotor) which are fitted into a closed housing. the rotors are precisely located
at both ends in rolling contact bearings which, in conjunction with the generously
sized oil supply chambers, provides optimum emergency running characteristics.
DESIGN THEORY
The MEHKOOH TAHVIEH control logic is to provide a full range of highly
efficient, reliable chillers applicable to many duties and built to the requirements of
energy saving and safety instructions. Owing to the specific design this type of
compressor does not require any working valves. To protect against reverse
running when the compressor is switch off (expansion operator) a check valve is
incorporated in discharge chamber, an internal pressure relief valve is fitted as
burst protection. In models (100-2) to (280-2) with dual circuits, one circuit
continues to running while the other one is being serviced .It is very important in
peak season and vital in many industrial cooling applications.
EASY INSTALLATION
The MSLC has a compact design. It's supplied as a complete package for
operation, with no extra controls, timers, starters or other items to install. The
MSLC units have a single power point entry and one main disconnect switch. The
hydraulic connections are simple; all units are designed to ensure maximum
compliance with standards.

CONDENSERS
Air cooled type: MEHKOOH's condensers are designed to deliver their respective
duties at optimum performance for all design conditions. Coils are manufactured
from seamless copper tubes mechanically expended into aluminum (or copper
fins). All coils undergo dry chemical cleaning after manufacturing for optimum
system operation. Water cooled: These types are shell and tube, with very high
efficiency in heat exchanging performances copper tube.
COOLER
The coolers are shell and tube type with removable head and it has inner grooved
copper tubes. The shell out side is insulated with 1/2 inch closed
Aero flex insulation.
STANDARD FEATURES

models thermostat or controllers start and stop the compressor(s) to ensure least

REFRIGERANT AND OILS


The introduction of HCFC/POE system has led to confusion as to what refrigerant
and oils are approved for used in BITZER compressors. The following sections
list approved refrigerant and oils for BITZER compressors.

IMPORTANT
For above reason, chiller with new refrigerant, were delivered without oil and
before start the unit, all compressors should be filled with POE oil that delivered
with unit in site by MEHKOOH TAHVIEH. All units with new refrigerant should
be run and start up only by our technician; otherwise the warranty will be void.
The following notes are extremely recommended.
NOTES
1- The use of non-approved refrigerant may be dangerous and will void the
warranty.
2- Using the wrong type or weight of oil for the refrigerant selected will void the
warranty.
3- Contact the MEHKOOH TAHVIEH engineering department before using any
refrigerant or oil not listed in this guide as approved for using a BITZER semihermetic compressors.
4- All HFC/POE applications require a crankcase heater.
5- Moisture must be kept below 50 ppm for POE oils.

C. Cooler

1. One (1) water - cooled shell -and- tube type with seamless integrally finned
copper tubes and removable heads.
2. Design and construction shall provide positive sub cooling of liquid refrigerant.
3. Each circuit equipped with a pressure relief device, purge cock and liquid line
shut off valve.
E. Refrigerant components
Each refrigerant circuit shall include the following minimum components:
Moisture indicating sight glass.
Maximum operating pressure type thermal expansion valve
Refrigerant filter drier.
Liquid line solenoid valve.
Charging valve
Discharge gas thermostat.
Close - fitting cellular foam insulation on all suction lines.
F. Controls
Consisting of control box which contains:
1. Multiple step return chilled water temperature controller to provide capacity
control.
2. Power terminal blocks
3. Individual compressor operation indicator lights.
4. STOP/START button.
G. Electrical requirements
1. Control voltage shall be 220 volt single phase (24 or 100volts are available on
request) separate power supply or manufacturer shall supply or manufacturer shall
supply transformer package to permit 220 volts to be taken directly from until

1) SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
Electrically controlled screw type liquid chiller utilizing semi-hermetic type

2) DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING
A. Unit shall be shipped factory assembled with all refrigerant piping and control
writing factory installed.
B. Unit shall be shipped pre-charged with a complete operating charge of R-22
C. Unit to be stored and handled per unit manufacturer's recommendations.
PART 2-PRODUCTS

INTRODUCTION
BENEFITS AND FEATURES
MEHKOOH TAHVIEH packaged air conditioning units are compact systems
intended for application in new or existing stores, restaurants, offices, schools,
computer rooms, airport or industrial buildings. available in cooling capacities
from 5 to 80 tons in a single units, these units provide significant installation
versatility and economy in that they can be used to supply the total cooling
requirements in a variety of commercial, institutional, and industrial application.
MEHKOOH TAHVIEH package units can provide year round air conditioning
with hot water ,steam or electric heating coil during the cold season.
They can also be used to supplement central systems, permitting zone control at
low load conditions with out the expense of control systems. Unit can be selected
with air or water - cooled condensers in roof top, indoor, and in case of air cooled
versions in split or packaged arrangements.
Furthermore, the unit can be used for free delivery or ducted applications.
For case of installation, the units can be in vertical or horizontal configuration.
All models are designed for maximum performance and reliability.
The basic component of the MEHKOOH TAHVIEH packaged units is a semi,
hermetic type multi-cylinder compressor designed to run on 380v -3ph-50 Hz .
Motor the water cooled condenser is a shell & tube type heat exchanger, sized
sufficiently to hold the total refrigerant charge on pump down operations. The
condenser shell design meets the ASME section VIII, DIV.1, boiler & pressure
vessel code requirements in addition to TEMA standards.
The air-cooled condenser is configured so that air discharge is diverted upward
thus carrying heat away from the unit and minimizing directional sound.
The fan is statically and dynamically balanced therefore assuring smooth and quiet
operation.

ENGINEERING GUIDE SPECIFICATION


GENERAL SPECIFICATION
Furnish and install MEHKOOH TAHVIEH package air conditioning units utilizing
reciprocating industrial-duty semi-hermetic compressor(s).
Coil section complete with direct expansion coil, condensate drain plan, liquid
receiver, filter rack, fan section, factory wiring, and controls. Thermal overload on
each compressor power circuit.
3phase control on main power and optionally of each compressor power circuit.
Glycerin filled gauge for demonstrating oil pressure of compressors and suction
and discharge pressure of each circuit.
Oil pressure safety switches for compressors to prevent compressors failure due to
lubrication problems.
CASING
CONSTRUCTION:
Fabricate of Chanel posts and panels assembled with screws galvanize steel finish,
assemble section with build type and float gaskets and bolts. Panels shell be
removable for access to the components.
belt driven and mounted on a solid steel shaft with self-aligning grease lubrication,
ball or roller bearings.
FAN SECTION:
Double-inlet centrifugal fan wheel with forward or backward curved blades shall
be designed for continuous operation at maximum fan speed.
Fan wheel shall be constructed of galvanize steel sheets and shall be statically and
dynamically balanced for smooth running and quiet operation. Fan shall be
FAN MOTOR:
all motors are totally enclosed with external cooling fan TEFC, with IPS4 and class
B for winding and on request motor.
IPSS class F is available. The motor shall operate at 1450 rpm suitable for 380v3ph-50Hz . Fan motor shall have V-belt drive, with oversized V-belt for long life.
COOLING & HEATING COIL:
the cooling coil shall be multi-row, direct expansion type, designed and tested in
accordance ASH RAE for mechanical refrigeration. Primary surface is 5/8"
(16mm) O.D. Seamless copper tube with all joints brazed.
Secondary surface shall be aluminum /copper fin plates in spacing of 8 fin per
inch.
Hot water heating coils shall be factory tested for leakage at 350psig air pressure
with the coil submerged in water.
CONDENSATE PAN:
Condensate pan shall be of heavy gage galvanized steel sheet and shall be
equipped with drain connection.
CONDENSER COIL (air cooled only):
air cooled condenser coils shall be rated according to ARI460 and constructed 5/8"
0.0. Seamless copper tube with aluminum/copper fin plates in spacing of 12 fins

per inch.
REFRIGERANT COMPONENTS:
Each refrigerant circuit shall include the following minimum components:
1- Hot gas muffler (on baffle plate) 2- moisture indicating sight glass.
3- Maximum operating pressure type thermal
Expansion valve (TXV)
4- refrigerant filter drier S-liquid line solenoid valve 6- charging valve
CONTROLS AND SAFETIES:
all control circuits shall be 220v-50Hz-single phase. A single/multi stage
thermostat shall provide capacity modulation by cycling compressor(s) on/off
along with control of condenser fan(s). An electrical interlock for remote
condenser fan shall be provided.
Contactors plus overload protection shall be provided for all motors.
The compressor shall be provided with the following controls. High pressure, low
pressure, over temperature, over current and short cycle in addition to oil pressure
safety cut out.
