Presented by Md. Abdul Ahad Assistant Programmer, BCC

• Network A network is a set of devices connected by the transmission media. The devices can be computers, printers o any other devices capable of sending and receiving data on the network. Computer network is classified into the following categories:
– Local Area Network (LAN) – Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) – Wide Area Network (WAN)

The network model can be classified in the following two categories:
– Client-Server Network – Peer-to-Peer Network

Advantages of computer network
– A computer network provides a centralized administration and support system in an organization.

• Network Operating Systems

• Network Architecture
– A network is an interconnection of computers and peripheral devices that share data or information. Network architecture refers to the design of the computer network.

• Network Components
– Transmission media:
• Guided media: cables • Unguided media: radio frequency waves
