Public Service Announcement

July 29, 2014 (Iqaluit, Nunavut) The City of Iqaluit is implementing
changes in collection and processing of household waste.
The City is requesting residents to put all household waste excluding wood,
cardboard and metal in regular standard size garbage bags.
This effort will help reduce our impact on the environment as well as reduce
the volume of combustible waste that enters to the landfill, minimizing the
likely-hood of a recurrence of a fire.
The clean combustible waste that is segregated and collected in this manner,
will be processed in an air curtain burner.
This equipment is designed to burn clean wastes such as cardboard and clean
wood in a controlled manner with little or no smoke.
The garbage pick-up schedule is as follows; Housing units marked in RED
is for cardboard and Black for regular household waste.
