Abstract
In recent years, several alternative educational opportunities have
emerged as the outcome of ovideion transformations in the fields of
ICT. It seems that home education is at the forefront of progress, having
its roots in a series of movements in the US since the 1960's. This article
presents home education as an educational technology, namely as an
alternative process to achieve learning objectives. Home education is
examined as a postmodern narrative of educational policy, in the
framework of which responsibility of the educational process is shifted
from state to person. In other words, the transition from education in the
form of educational institution to the form of diffuse learning
opportunities.

Finally, I attempt to answer two questions related to

parental choice (parents right to choose the type of education for their
children and why they choose home education). In summary, I conclude
that the reluctance of European education policy towards school
institution as opposed to alternative educational options is caused by a
wider oscillation of the European societies between modern and
postmodern narratives.
