POSITION TITLE: MARKETING ASSISTANT
SALARY GRADE: Unpaid Internship


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
 Experience with MS Office, Facebook, Internet.
 Experience coordinating projects, setting realistic deadlines, managing competing deadlines, or related.
 Experience working with a wide range of people, volunteers, the public and staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position will assist with a variety of marketing activities to build support for conservation and The Nature
Conservancy. This includes writing web features and articles, managing logistics, creating materials and working with
vendors on donations of goods and services for the Conservancy’s outreach events. The position will also assist with
creating electronic invitations and other marketing materials, digital media, and other projects as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
 Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities and meet deadlines.
 Demonstrated experience in MS Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of InDesign desirable.
 Ability to use advanced computer functions including navigating the Internet.

COMPLEXITY/PROBLEM SOLVING:
 Coordinate multiple projects with several variables, set realistic deadlines and manage deadlines.
 Resolve routine problems independently.

DISCRETION/LATITUDE/DECISION-MAKING:
 Make day-to-day decisions within the scope of work assignments.
 Consult with supervisor to address any issues that affect the work of others or the program as a whole.

COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
 Communicate with internal and external contacts to seek or convey information and coordinate arrangements.
 Work with and communicate effectively with a wide range of people including employees, the public, vendors and
others.
 Provides a variety of information to staff and others to assist workflow throughout the organization.
 Familiarity with standard business communications; ability to draft and edit correspondence and other written
materials.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
 Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or strain. Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to
disagreeable elements.
