Infantry Regiment for Basic Combat Training' The (nited "tates Army
pro&ides the fines Basic Combat Training of any military ser&ice in the )orld' *e at Fort
ac!son are pri&ileged to participate in preparing men and )omen to be professional
"oldiers' +lease rest ass#red that all of the trainees are )ell cared for in terms of their
health, li&ing conditions, spirit#als )elfare, n#trition and training' The tr#st yo# placed
in the Army and in #s for the proper care of yo#r lo&ed one is m#ch appreciated'
Basic Training is the first step to)ard a &ery challenging, yet re)arding, e,perience in
ser&ice to o#r co#ntry' The mission here at Basic Combat Training -BCT. is to transform
ci&ilians into physically and mentally capable "oldiers )ho li&e by the Army/s &al#es and
are prepared to ta!e their place in the ran!s of the Army' This transformation from
ci&ilian to "oldier is accomplished thro#gh a to#gh and rigoro#s process )hich totally
immerses a BCT "oldier in a positi&e en&ironment established by acti&e, in&ol&ed
leadership' This en&ironment sets high standards, pro&ides positi&e role models, and #ses
e&ery training opport#nity to reinforce basic "oldier s!ills' $ost importantly, "oldiers
learn abo#t the &al#es, principles, and spirit that ma!e #s all pro#d to )ear the #niform'

Basic Training is stressf#l, so I am as!ing yo# to )rite yo#r "oldier to help him or her

homesic!ness that may occ#r d#ring transition' %o# sho#ld also be a)are that the
sched#le and time constraints of Basic Training may pre&ent yo#r "oldier from )riting to
yo# as often as yo# )o#ld li!e' +lease re&ie) the Family "#r&i&al 1#ide on ho) to
address mail to yo#r "oldier'
Emergencies
If yo# enco#nter an emergency )hile yo#r "oldier is at BCT, contact yo#r local Red
Cross )ho )ill then contact the "oldier/s Company here at Fort ac!son' The
information is noted in the Family "#r&i&al 1#ide'

Graduation and AI
After s#ccessf#l completion of all the training re2#irements, soldiers )ill participate in
Family Day and 1rad#ation ceremonies mar!ing the c#lmination of Basic Combat
Training and the beginning of a ne) challenge at Ad&anced Indi&id#al Training -"IT.'
The training they recei&e d#ring AIT is designed to teach them their military 3cc#pation
"pecialty -$3". )hich they )ill #se once they reach their first operational d#ty
assignment' (nfort#nately, not e&ery "oldier )ill s#ccessf#lly ma!e it thro#gh Basic
Training' %o#r "oldier )ill contact yo# in the e&ent they are not going to grad#ate this
cycle'
1rad#ation is an e,tremely important e&ent for yo#r "oldier and an opport#nity to see
them at their finest4 )e hope that yo# )ill be able to attend' In order for yo# to plan and
en5oy yo#r &isit to Fort ac!son, )e recommend yo# read the flyer )ith the pertinent
information abo#t Family Day and 1rad#ation'
o 3n *ednesday, 62 7o&ember, 2068 at 60900am, )e )ill cond#ct Family Day
acti&ities at :ilton Field for Alpha, Bra&o, Charlie, Delta, and Fo,trot Companies'
Follo)ing a short ceremony and information briefing, "oldiers are released for the
day b#t m#st remain on Fort ac!son and ret#rn no later that ;900pm'
o 3n Th#rsday, 6< 7o&ember, 2068 at 60900am, 1rad#ation occ#rs at :ilton Field'
Immediately follo)ing the ceremony, "oldiers are a#thori=ed an off post pass
)ith their immediate family members4 i'e' father, mother, h#sband, or )ife after
properly signing o#t thro#gh their company' %o#r soldier m#st sign bac! into the
Company by ;900pm that e&ening #nless being transported to AIT by Immediate
family members'
o If yo#r "oldier is attending AIT at one of the designated posts belo), yo# may
choose to dri&e them from Fort ac!son to their AIT site' Transporting yo#r
"oldier is strictly yo#r choice and an opport#nity for yo# to spend more time )ith
yo#r lo&ed one9 ho)e&er, yo# are not obligated to do so' The military pro&ides
transportation for all "oldiers to AIT'
$ost of these #nits )ill re2#ire yo#r "oldier to report the day after grad#ation' %o#r
"oldier )ill !no) )hen they m#st report and they m#st be the one to get it appro&ed for
yo# to ta!e them the week before graduation' They )ill not !no) if they )ill be gi&en a
)ee!end pass #ntil they sign in at their AIT #nit'
