Salvage Law and Practice

Monday 14th - Tuesday 15th December 2009
Hilton Paddington, London

The last 12 months have seen more changes in the world of salvage and wreck removal than
any since 2000. The reforms to LOF, including plans to review the constitution of the LOF
arbitrators panel and to publish awards, have received much publicity. Salved values have
fluctuated wildly with a corresponding effect on the level of awards and settlements.
Interesting Court decisions have or are about to be published (the "VOUTAKOS" and
"OCEAN CROWN"). Meanwhile debates continue about possible changes to the Salvage
Convention 1989 focusing for example on environmental salvage.

The salvage seminar aims to review salvage and wreck removal law and procedure while also
looking in more depth at certain aspects of practice and possible changes. As importantly, it
provides an annual opportunity for participants to meet old friends and make new contacts.

Anyone interested in salvage and wreck removal should attend whether he is a salvor, a marine
property insurer or broker, a P&I case handler, marine casualty surveyor or lawyer, a ship-
owner or ship manager.

Seminar Highlights:

• UNDERSTAND risk management in salvage & towage & your insurance options
• EXAMINE special compensation awards & how to assess the salvage award
