God’s Word and Transformation
“Con se crate them in the truth. Your word is
truth.” Je sus in John 17:17
“It is not enough to dis cover Christ…YOU
must bring him to oth ers.” Pope John Paul II
“It is in know ing God’s Word that we can live
it. We must all read and know the Word of God,
through which God speaks.” Pope Ben e dict XVI
“The Bi ble is filled with the wis dom of God.
By plac ing the Bi ble in ev ery home, it is hoped
that we will not only unite all Fil i pi nos in mind
and in heart, but that the Phil ip pines will
be trans formed by the beau ti ful val ues of God.”
Fr. James Reuter
‘The heart must be trans formed to the like ness
of Je sus so that young peo ple learn how to
conduct them selves be fore the Lord and their
fellowmen. I en cour age ev ery one to read and
study the Bi ble and al low our selves to be trans -
formed by the Word of God.” Amb. Henrietta
‘Tita’ T. de Villa
“ ‘I pray that they may all be one.’ This was
the prayer of Je sus for his dis ci ples and for those
who will even tu ally put their trust in him. This
is also our sol emn prayer. In a na tion po lar ized
by eth nic, re gional, po lit i cal, eco nomic, cul tural,
and re li gious di ver si ties and distinctives, no
need is more press ing than for all Fil i pi nos to be
united un der the ban ner of God’s Word. There
is no other al ter na tive but to be in sol i dar ity with
one an other. But that can be done only through
the trans form ing power of the Bi ble, for ‘the
Word of God is alive and ac tive.’ ” Bishop Arturo
M. Bastes, SVD, DD
“If we are all gov erned by the Word of God,
then there will be unity and peace. Let us sup -
port the May They Be One Bi ble Cam paign and
help unite our coun try un der the ban ner of God’s
Word.” Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo, DD
En dorse ments
“This Cam paign will be a big help in ad vanc -
ing the call of His Ho li ness Pope Ben e dict XVI
to greater love for, and in ter ac tion with the
Sacred Scrip tures. I hope that the di o ceses and
the par ishes, the Cath o lic schools and other
insti tu tions will sup port this pro ject.” Arch bi -
shop An gel Lagdameo, DD, Arch bishop of Jaro
“It is im por tant for us all to work to gether to
help en able the peo ple of the Phil ip pines to en -
gage with God’s Word. I com mend this won der -
ful pro ject of the Phil ip pine Bi ble So ci ety to work
with the Cath o lic Church in re spond ing to the
call of Christ that ‘we may be one’ and that we
may all come to know and cher ish the Word of
God.” ’ Wal ter Car di nal Kasper, Pres i dent of the
Pon tif i cal Coun cil for Pro mot ing Chris tian Unity
May They Be One
Bi ble Cam paign
WHAT IS MAY THEY BE ONE?
May They Be One Bi ble Cam paign is a five- year
na tion wide pro gram (2009-2013) which aims to
put a Bi ble in ev ery home and en cour age Fil i pi nos
to read and live the Bi ble re sult ing in the trans for -
ma tion of the Phil ip pines.
WHY UNDERTAKE SUCH A CAMPAIGN?
The Phil ip pines is known to be the only Chris -
tian coun try in South east Asia. Yet, 60% of Fil i pi -
nos do not own a Bi ble. There is a need for God’s
Word... A chal lenge to live up to our iden tity as a
Chris tian na tion... We re spond to this chal lenge
through a cam paign that aims to put one Bi ble in
ev ery Fil i pino house hold.
May They Be One is our re sponse to the prayer of
Christ for all His chil dren to ‘be one,’ (John 17:21)
since unity is vi tal for mak ing the Word of God
acces si ble, un der stand able, re spected and lived.
It is also a call for one ness in in di vid u als, fam i lies,
and com mu ni ties re sult ing in unity among var i ous
sec tors in work ing for na tional trans for ma tion.
WHO IS BEHIND MAY THEY BE ONE?
The Epis co pal Com mis sion for the Bib li cal Apos-
tolate (ECBA) of the Cath o lic Bish ops’ Con fer ence
of the Phil ip pines (CBCP) is spear head ing the
cam paign in part ner ship with the Phil ip pine Bi ble
So ci ety (PBS) and other churches.
May They Be One is inspired by the World Synod
of Bishops in Rome on October 5-26, 2008 which had
its theme, “The Word of God in the Life and Mission
of the Church.”
HOW WILL THE CAMPAIGN WORK?
The May They Be One Cam paign aims to raise
suf fi cient funds within the Phil ip pines and over -
seas, to en able at least 5M Bi bles to be printed
and sold at the sub si dized price of P = 50 each. Full
pro duc tion cost of a Bi ble is P = 150.
HOWCAN I BE PART OF THIS BIBLE CAMPAIGN?
You can be come a “Friend of the Bi ble” and
help put a Bi ble in ev ery home in the Phil ip pines.
As a “Friend of the Bi ble,” you will be asked to
do three things:
l Pray for the success of the Campaign.
l Promote to your fam ily and friends about
May They Be One Bible Campaign and give
away resource materials.
l Give a min i mum do na tion of P = 450 each year
to wards the cost of putt ing three Bi bles into
the homes of fel low Fil i pi nos. One Bi ble costs
P = 150.

How won der ful it is, how pleas ant, for God’s
people to live together in harmony!
Psalm 133:1
I pray that they may all be one.
Father! May they be in us,
just as you are in me and I am in you.
May they be one,
so that the world will believe
that you sent me.
John 17:21
We have many parts in the one body, and all
these parts have different functions. In the
same way, though we are many, we are one
body in union with Christ, and we are all joined
to each other as different parts of one body.
Romans 12:4-5
