Week
Activities ICT Resources
1
Introduce the problem. Students are to
explore the wiki/weebly pages, read
the problems and start
Googling/YouTubing Emperor Penguins
to become familiar to the idea and
begin thinking about what aspects need
to be considered in this project.
Students will also be encouraged to
have a look on Google Maps to see
where the future zoo enclosure will be.

2
Discuss the problem and possible
solutions. Students are to access the
classs wiki in their home time. They are
to discuss their findings, possible
solutions, a possible timeframe and
budget etc prompted by key questions
posed by the teacher. Students are
encouraged to give their peers
feedback and appreciate each others
good ideas. Furthermore, for
homework, students are to create
Wordle of all of the relevant words that
they need to be considering when
doing this project. The wiki will then be
opened in class and the teacher will
create further discussion and analyse
students individual contribution.

and the needs of the animals in

Implement their plan. Students are to
create a proposal for the Zoo Keeper
using PowerPoint. The presentation
must include the budget, scaled
drawings of the enclosure,
temperatures, how to create those
temperatures, dietary requirements,
other habitual needs etc. They are to

Review the results. Before they read
the report summary from the Zoo
Keeper, students are to first analyse
what possible mistakes might have
been made and aspects they werent
100% sure on. They are to compile
these into a table through Word on the
interactive whiteboard (IWB). One
column for their analysis and other to
put the Zoo Keepers in. The students
will then read the report from the Zoo
Keeper (teacher) which will give them
possible alterations that would need to
be made or things that were overseen.
