ABOUT THIS WEEK

hoy, idea, juntos luego)
Writing- This month during Writer’s Workshop,
Students are working on writing personal nar-
ratives. Students are working on producing
narratives that recount two or more appropri-
ately sequenced events, include some details
regarding what happened. With guidance and
support from adults they will focus on a topic,
Demonstrate command of the conventions of
standard Spanish capitalization, punctuation,
and spelling when writing.
Math- In math we have been working on differ-
ent strategies to solve addition and subtrac-
tion equations with numerals 1-20. Students will
also work on solving word problems with un-
known partners or totals.
Reading- Students are working on comprehen-
sion before, during, and after reading a text.
This week students will predict what might
happen in a story they haven’t read. Students
will also link events in real life, other books or
experiences to text that is read or heard to
help deepen their understanding of the topic.
While students are reading they will ask them-
selves or their reading partner questions like
who, where, when, and what to monitor com-
prehension.
Science- Students will understand that com-
paring involves observing and describing simi-
larities and differences. Students will take part
in hands on measurement activities that will
help them explain the importance of using be-
ginning and ending points and placing units end
to end when measuring.
