Our hope is everyone had an opportunity to appreciate the great spell of weather we enjoyed this weekend. I dont know about you, but around our place the mosquitoes seemed to come out in force to enjoy the weather as well. However even a few mosquitoes, could not take away from admiring the wonderful colors of the season.
First some business to take care of, for our students under 18 to participate in the Changing Gaits horseback riding program, would you please sign their liability form and have your student return it to school as soon as able. Thank you.
Most of the ALP students are wrapping up their first projects this week and starting to come up with ideas for their next few projects. We hope to have a few ready for display at our 7 October Sloppy Joe feed and Open house from 5-9pm. We have students exploring early man survival techniques, Ojibwe hunting practices, car buying, the Japanese folklore of Kistune, Presidential comparisons, biographical sketches, and much more.
Also, in these last two weeks, about half of our students started the application process for the Central Minnesota Jobs Training Service math and English program. A program that will pay the students for completing a Math and English courses. A CMJTS representative was here on the 19th to assist students with their applications and this past Thursday those students took a placement test. Once applications are in, and if approved, students will earn up to $10 an hour to take these Math and English courses.
Our students support of the Hinckley-Finlayson Elementary Tasty Treats program continues and is very much appreciated. Mondays and Wednesdays, some of our students go to the HES and prepare healthy snacks for the kids. The staff at the elementary school have said the program would not be able to function with out students from the ALP supporting it.
Along those same lines, three of our students took part in our first of many Give Back to Your Community program activities. We took a trip out to the Audubon Center District Office Robert Prater, Superintendent 320-384-6277 320-384-6135 (fax)

We are continuing to develop a progress report that will give you an snapshot of your students continuing work. We hope to have it ready by the next news letter. We have had some parents take advantage of technology and ask to be given access to student work in our Project Foundry system for tracking projects. If you would also like to have this capability, please let us know and we will set it up for you.
As always, we encourage your continued support of the students in their efforts to make it to class on time every day and meet their academic goals.
