Q. What are the limitations for the project?
A. Limitations or constraints are factors that will have an impact on our design. For this project
we will concentrate on the following limitations.

Availability of
Brief
Time
Money (School $20)
Materials
Function
Appearance
Ergonomics
Resources
Equipment
Expertise

The following table shows a common method of setting out limitations or constraints.

important factor
because if you dont

Criteria to Evaluate Success
This involves thinking about the qualities and features that your design solution will show when
completed to ensure the project is successful. This will be used to evaluate final design, and product
at the end of the project. The constraints within the design brief provide a starting point for the
criteria for success.
Aesthetics
Relates to the way something looks its appearance. This can include colour, shape and decoration
For my project the main points are
1. Must be of a suitable colour and blend in to the environment and not stand out.
2. Must be smooth and have a quality finish, eg Sanding, no brush marks,
3. Have a fishing theme
4.
5. The shape ..

Function
Refers to what the product must do or how it operates
For my project the main points are
1. Must be able to be hung on the wall.
2. Must be easily seen by my grandfather when sitting in his chair. Eg size

3. Must be easily read by my grandfather when sitting in his chair. Numeral size and style
4. Hinged lid for easy opening
5. Must have a mirror so the person can see themselves when putting on the Jewellery
6. Must be of sufficient size eg 3 bangles 4 necklaces 10 pr

8.

Other Considerations
Materials
Time
Must be made predominantly from timber (Radiata Pine)
Tools
Techniques
Must incorporate at least 2 joints
