The news media are in crisis: ownership models of the past are failing, and newsrooms are losing reporters en masse. and while many look to the internet as the news distribution channel of the future, the us is slipping behind the rest of the world in internet speed, availability and adoption. as these trends worsen, we must ask ourselves: What will happen to the public interest role that journalism plays in our democracy? and how will we ensure fast, ubiquitous internet to deliver that public interest content in the future? These problems are the result – in part - of failed policymaking in Washington, dC. and it will take smart policy changes to fix them. Free Press is the leading national organization addressing these vital issues. Join us for a provocative look at the state of us media, the internet, and what’s being done to create a brighter future.

Please join us for this stimulating conversation on January 19th!
