Recently the debate for legaliing !ari"#ana has beca!e a large iss#e
in A!erica$ %he iss#e is sho#ld &ari"#ana be legal for either !edical #se or
recreational #se$ %his iss#e has !any stoc'holders that are involved$ A (ta'e
holder is a person, gro#p or organiation that has interest or concern in an
organiation$ (ta'eholders incl#de people and gro#ps s#ch as )overn!ent
o*cials or the )overn!ent as a +hole, doctors, patients, cops, !ari"#ana
distrib#ters, dr#g !an#fact#res, and Recreational #sers$
%here are !any di,erent +ays to resolve this dile!!a$ %he -st +ay is
!a'ing it legal for &edical #se only and 'eeping it illegal for recreational #se$
%he second is totally legalie it for both !edical and recreational, and either
reg#late and ta. it or don/t doe either$ %he third is 'eep it illegal for both
!edical and recreational #se$ %he fo#rth +ay to resolve it is by letting the
states decide for the! selves$ %he -fth +ays co#ld be a co!bination of the!
b#t also !a'ing it legal if it is for a religio#s reason$
0tilitarian r#le is a for! of #tilitarianis! that says an action is right as
it confor!s to a r#le that leads to the greatest good, or that 1the rightness or
+rongness of a partic#lar action is a f#nction of the correctness of the r#le of
+hich it is an instance$1 %o resolve it the #tilitarian +ay yo# +o#ld !a'e it
legal for every one b#t ta. it$ %he ne.t +ay is the !oral rights r#le +hich is a
translation of the French ter! 1droit !oral,1 and refers not to 1!orals1 as
advocated by the religio#s right, b#t rather to the ability of a#thors to control
the event#al fate of their +or's$ %o resolve it this +ay yo# +o#ld !a'e it

for recreational #se or not$

one b#t ta. it$ 5t +o#ld bene-t all the sta'eholders as in the -rst option b#t
the citiens that don/t +ant it legal and the dr#g !an#fact#res since !ore
people +o#ld #se !ari"#ana instead of other dr#gs +ith side e,ects$ 68 %he

and for religio#s reason$ %his is good for the sta'eholders of the patients and
doctors$ %he patient +ill be resolving the health proble!s +hile c#ring !ore
patients even tho#gh they !ight not get paid as !#ch$ %he !ari"#ana
distrib#ters +ill !a'e so!e !oney as selling as a !edial dr#g b#t not as
!#ch as if it +as totally legal$ %he sta'eholders it +o#ld h#rt are the
govern!ent beca#se they still have to ho#se in!ates and govern!ent
+or'ers still have to -ght the +ay on the dr#g$ 64 is the "#stice r#le$ 5t is last
beca#se it 'eeps it illegal for all reasons$ %he only sta'eholder it helps is
doctors loo'ing to get paid !ore !oney by doing !ore treat!ents and dr#g
!an#fact#res selling higher priced dr#gs +hile h#rting patients loo'ing for a
c#re and also the govern!ent by spending !ore !oney on ho#sing the
in!ates arrested for it$
5 thin' the practical r#le is the best sol#tion$ %his +o#ld allo+
!ari"#ana to be legal for !edical #se and let the states decide the rest$ 5 feel
li'e it sho#ld be legal for !edical #se beca#se it has !any health related
bene-ts$ %hese bene-ts consist of 5t can stop 459 fro! spreading thro#gho#t
the body, slo+s the progression of Alhei!er/s, slo+s the spread of cancer
cells, is an active pain reliever, can prevent or help +ith opiate addiction,
co!bats depression an.iety and AD4D, treat epilepsy and %o#rette/s, help
+ith other ne#rological da!age, prevent blindness fro! gla#co!a, and is
connected to lo+er ins#lin levels in diabetics$ %he reason 5 thin' the states
sho#ld be able to choose if they !a'e it legal for recreational #se is beca#se
there has be no per!it da!age done to a person$ %he only da!age is short
ter! +hile #sing it !a'ing it safer then alcohol$ (o 5 believe that if states
!a'e it a choice then people have the choice to !ove to +here they +ant,
so the! can !ove to a legal state or !ove to a non legal state$ %his +ill 'eep
the Federal )overn!ent fro! being bla!ed for the res#lts of 'eeping it
illegal or legaliing it$ 5 also thin' the states that !a'e it legal sho#ld ta. it so
they can get their pro-t as +ell$ %he sta'e holders +o#ld all be a,ected in
di,erent +ays$ %he -rst sta'eholder +hich is the )overn!ent +o#ld bene-t
in !any +ays$ %hey +o#ld save !oney by devoting it to stoping other cri!es
and by having less in!ates in "ail$ %hey +o#ld also get !ore !oney by
ta.ing the !ari"#ana that is #sed for recreational #se$ &ari"#ana distrib#tes
+ill bene-t beca#se they are getting !ore b#siness and they can deal
directly to the b#yers$ Cops +ill bene-t beca#se they +ill not have to +aste
ti!e arresting and +riting paper+or' for a person +ith possession of
!ari"#ana$ 7atients +ill bene-t beca#se they +ill not have to pay as !#ch for
high end dr#gs that don/t +or' as +ell as !ari"#ana$ Also beca#se they
s#rvival rate +ill increase fro! certain health proble!s and have !ore
treat!ent paths to choose fro!$ And recreational #sers +ill both bene-t or
not get bene-ted$ 5f the states 'eep it illegal they +ill not bene-t b#t if the
state legalies it then they +ill bene-t beca#se they +ill not go to "ail b#t
they +ill have to pay ta. to b#y it$ %he Doctors +o#ld be e,ected negatively
beca#se they +ill not be getting as !#ch b#siness and or repetitive patients
since they +ill be c#ring the!$ Dr#g !an#fact#res +ill also be e,ected
negatively beca#se there other dr#gs +ill not be #sed as !#ch since
!ari"#ana treats a lot of health proble!s$
