SCOPE OF MAINTENANCE WORKS AT APD CONTAINER OFFICE
As directed, the undersigned visited the Container Office at APD to assess the maintenance works
required at the office. From information gathered from staff at the office, electrical power was
connected to the container through armoured cables by ECG and was metered. However when
activities at the depot came to a halt about ten months again, criminals stole both the cables and
the meter. Since then the office has been without power.
After the assessment yesterday at the office, the following is the scope of works required at the
station
Connection of electrical power to the office will require laying of armoured and overhead
cable and meter. In order not to interrupt operations at the office, a portable mobile
generator set, about 10KVA will be required at the office to be used during power
outages.,
The container will be sprayed in GOIL colours, instead of painting, to give it a good
image.
A new 1.5HP air conditioner will be installed.
The wooden door will be replaced and a new lock fixed.
The sliding glass door will also be repaired
The tarpaulin covering of the porch will be replaced with complete roofing sheets
There will be some welding especially with burglar proof to protect the outdoor unit of the
air conditioner and the ECG meter.
Two ceilng fans will be installed to be used during power outages, in case the generator is
not able to provide enough power for all the equipment.
There is the need to provide washroom facility at the place. There was a previous one but
it was never used because, one had to squat (instead of sit) in order t use it. The metal
parts of it are now rusted, even though the housing is still ok.
The louvre frame will also be replaced.
The electrical bulbs will be replaced with fluorescent tubes to provide enough illumination
in the rooms.
These are the minimum works required to be done on the container office to make it presentable
for human habitation.
