To see how such pattern function in relation to each other and to appreciate the students place within
the cultural system. Language learners who want to communicate with individuals from other cultural
background should understand the cultural behavior of others and at the same time recognize the
influence of their culture, over their thoughts, their activities, and their forms of linguistic expression.

At the conclusion of the course, the students will be able to:
. !nderstand cross cultural understanding and its relationship which the language and cultural
values of the target language
". !nderstand what is meant of educational attitudes, participation in the classroom, the teacher#
student relationship, independent learning, the honor system, competition, the right attitudes, career
goals, American education and the American dream.
$. !nderstand what is meant by personal relationships, circles of friends, mobility and friendship,
instant friendship, male#female relationship, intercultural friendship, family values ad every day
manners.
%. understand what is meant by work values, he work ethic, rewards and satisfaction workaholics,
leisure and socializing, American attitude toward manual labor, time and space patterns ,
promptness, division of time, future time, space, privacy and use of space.
&. !nderstand what is meant by cultural conflict, intercultural communications, misinterpretation,
ethnocentrisms, stereotypes and pre'udice.
(. !nderstand what is meant by introductions, small talk after introduction, cultural variations on
introduction, rule, and style of speaking, speaking and refraining from speaking, different ways,
of expressing common needs and non#verbal communication.
