Curriculum Vitae of
Gabriel Perurena

Albert Ludwigs Universitaet Freiburg: Spring 2009

Study was conducted in Germany through the University of Texas study abroad
department. I took regular German university classes with local students. Lectures,
papers, and exams were conducted solely in German. I lived in student housing with local
student roommates and learned to independently adapt to different situations under
pressure and with a language barrier. I had to learn to be a self-starter and a quick learner
as well as a good communicator in order to navigate foreign government and educational
administrative systems.

Languages
German: fluent in reading, writing, understanding, and speaking.
Spanish: basic speaking, reading, and understanding
French: intermediate reading

Work Experience
October 2005-March 2006 University of Tulsa Center for Alumni Relations
Duties included:
Calling alumni all across the world to inform them about University developments and
networking opportunities.
Soliciting alumni for donations while explaining to the them how their gift assisted
their alma mater.
Informing alumni of the progress the University of Tulsa was making towards its goals
of becoming a more competitive university
Listening to any concerns or complaints that alumni might want to share. I felt that
this was the duty that contributed to the most professional growth, and I was successful
at alleviating concerns.

Volunteer Work
English as a Second Language Tutor:
Fall 2009(UT PALS Program)-Spring 2010 (Independently)
Duties included running free form conversation, grammar, and pronunciation lessons
for exchange students at the University of Texas. After doing so for one semester
through a University of Texas student group, I continued the next semester
independently as it granted more flexibility and the opportunity to meet longer. I also
corrected papers and assisted students in adjusting to life in the United States. Due to
my experiences with similiar challenges in Germany, I was well-suited to this role.

Hobbies and Interests
Past involvement in amateur theatre at Temple High School, including interactive
Children's Theatre outreach programs and Musicals as well as providing catering and
entertainment for events around Temple.
