Manifesto for Election:
David Keogan wants to be your Students Union President.
Tis Manifesto outlines what a President does, what David
will endeavour to do as your President and why he is best
suited to hit the ground running, if elected.
Te DIT is geting less money and you are paying more.
Tat is the long and short of it.
You need a strong voice, with your interests and your inter-
ests only in mind, to achieve whats best for you in the DIT.
Tis voice needs to be informed, it needs to be efective
with its time and it needs to have the support in order to
ensure the DIT are to give you value for your money.
Te voice that David is talking about is the DIT Students
Union.
DITSU represents all of you and works to make sure your
best interests are top of the priority list of everyone in DIT.
What the President Does?
Te President is the head of this voice.
Leader of the Elected Ofcers of the SU
(called CPIT)
She/he is the spokesperson of the Students Union
Gathers the relevant information.
Develops a standpoint or position with CPIT.
Delivers this standpoint to DIT and/or Nationally.
She/he develops the strategy for DITSU:
How DITSU communicates with the you.
What services DITSU provides to you and how.
How DITSU works with the DIT to get the most
for you.
Represents you nationally through USI

What David will endeavour to do as DITSU
President:
As your SU President, David wants to:
Make sure that the money that you are paying is
spent for you, by pushing your views to the top of
the DITs priority list.
Do all in his power to ensure that an open line of
communication remains between the upper levels of
the DIT and DITSU, so the student voice is heard at
the heart of decision making levels.
Implement new and innovative ways of communicat-
ing with you
Maintain pressure on USI to work in the best interest
of DIT Students and use them to make college life
for you as good as it can be.
Why David will be able to deliver:
David is best able to deliver on these points because he has the experience in
being the current Vice President of Academic and Student Afairs in DITSU.

David has the experience in dealing with the DIT:
He has experienced the bureaucratic mess that is DIT as Vice President
and I now have a beter idea how to navigate through it
From my close workings with the President and the other VP, he now has
a beter idea which forums are best to raise a whole range of issues.
David has ran information campaigns and over-saw the class rep system:
He recognises the benefts and challenges the current communication
strategy has.
He is developing how best to gather information from you.
David has been part of the constitution review process and the drafing of
the proposed new one.

Who is David Keogan?
I am currently your DITSU Vice President for Academic and Student Afairs
(Education and Welfare).Afer being elected by you last year, I have spent
since July ensuring that your voice is heard at all levels of the DIT in all things
relating to your course and general welfare. I have ran campaigns like Feel Good
Fortnight and SHAG Week to give you the confdence in sex and information
on sexual, mental, physical and nutritional health, exams and feedback.
Before taking up that post, I fnished an Engineering Degree in Bolton St, run-
ning the Karting Club for a few years.
Im a culchie from Cavan, but dont hold that against me, and enjoy long walks
on the beach and a nice pint of the black stuf.
As I said in my last manifesto, I was raised a farmer, so I am not afraid of working
all the hours in the day to make the most of my term of president.
David Keogan for President:
Te stronger and more determined the voice is, the more likely the DIT will
listen to it. Now, more than ever, you need a strong voice, because when money
is tight, the DIT needs to know that you are not a sof target.
With the experience David has gained in his current role in the Students Union
as part of a very strong team, he knows that he is in an excellent position to
act on these ideas very quickly. He is determined to do whats best for you, the
students of DIT.

David would love the opportunity to be head of the voice that, as President,
will strive to:
Get informed by communicating with you
Get what you need done.
Ensure the issues and services that you need are there for you
Lobby the DIT constantly, to make them listen and to prioritise your
views.

David Keogan
If you were a biscuit,
what sandwich would you be?
Ginger nut. The strongest and most
resistant one for a cup of tea!
Whats the best thing about DIT?
The student organisations. We
produce the best Clubs, Societies
and Students Union in the country
despite the facilities and scattered
nature of DIT.
And your biggest gripe about DIT?
The amount of meetings andcom-
mittees that are inDIT, whichmake
it increasingly difcult tomake any
changes.
Favourite joke?
What is the diference between
Mechanical Engineers and Civil
Engineers?
Mechanical Engineers build weap-
ons. Civil Engineers build targets.
WE ASK THE
IMPORTANT QUESTIONS,
SO YOU DONT HAVE TO:
DIT STUDENTS UNION ELECTIONS 2012
CANDIDATE FOR THE POSITION OF: SU PRESIDENT YOUR VOTE: YOUR VOICE
POLLING DAYS: MARCH 13 & 14
By voting for me and in large num-
bers, you are telling the DIT that
the students voice is strong and
has to be listened too. Only then
will they see that the students are
not soft targets and will fight to
maintain their services.
