Type Activity

1. Open a blank Adobe Illustrator document. Make sure that the orientation is portrait and the Size is set to letter.
2. Using the Point Type tool, type the following: Adobe Visual Design: Working with Text in Illustrator
3. Using the Point Type Tool, type the following: 1. This is text using the Point Type Option. It does not allow
word wrapping.
4. Using the Area Type Tool, type the following text in a different area from step 3: 2. This is text using the Area
Type Option. Word will wrap on to the next line when it reaches the boundary.
5. In a separate text area, type the following (make sure that each sentence is on a separate line within the text
area).

This text is typed in Britanic Bold Font.
This text is typed in size 18pts.
This text is typed in red font.

6. Apply the formatting that each line in step 5 discusses. (for example: highlight the text in the first line and
change the font to Britanic Bold font). Your document should look similar to the screenshot below.

7. Highlight the text 1. This is text using the Point Type Option. It does not allow word wrapping. and change the
font size to size 21pts.
8. Highlight the text 2. This is text using the Area Type Option. Word will wrap on to the next line when it
reaches the boundary. and change the font size to 24pts.
9. Highlight the text below and change the leading to 40pts. Change the tracking to 200.

10. Save the file as YourName_Type Activity.
