In our October Forum for Business Monthly, we inadvertently left Riverside Bank out of the New Member Receptions Article. While we are greatly appreciative to Lisa Garcia and Allure Salon and Spa for
hosting, the series of New Member Receptions would not be possible without the continued support of
Riverside Bank as presenting sponsor. Thanks to Riverside Bank, their outstanding staff and three beautiful Lakeland locations for continuing to build the Chamber and the community!
Webster University instructor Arthur McKee was on hand at the September BusinessPrep workshop to provide an academic look into the realities of the economy. Focusing on the cyclical changes that economic systems face, McKee was positive about the future, but cautious. By paying attention to global markets and the changes in American consumerism, McKee believes that the US will transition back to a manufacturing nation. As the markets stabilize, the possibility that foreign parts and products will increase in price grows. Couple that with increased transportation costs, and the necessity of US manufacturing and exports becomes apparent. In the mean time, his advice to consumers is to pay down debt, own what you use and diversify investments internationally. For business owners, he suggests looking at suppliers and seeking a stable future with US manufacturers and export possibilities.

What is Health? To the Chiropractic Centers of Lakeland it is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. Dr. Steve Johnson began his career as a chiropractor 25 years ago and has been serving the Lakeland community since 2000. He is joined in practice by Dr.’s Tiffany Love and Michael Stratton. Along with a full contingent of staff, they believe in a “Journey to Wellness” that encompasses a full range of services designed to keep you in tip top condition through chiropractic adjustments, muscle therapies, massage, laser therapy, detoxification foot baths and nutritional balance. This Journey is available to patients in all age ranges even infants. Both of the offices are outfitted with the latest available technologies ranging from x-ray machines to Aqua Beds and detoxification equipment. The doctors are members of many Chiropractic Associations including Polk County, Florida, American and International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. As such, they are required to complete 40 hours of continuing education every two years. The doctors and staff also attend various chiropractic conferences to learn about new products, technologies and techniques to incorporate into their practice. They are proud to serve the community through membership in the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce, Bartow Chamber of Commerce, volunteering their time, expertise and monies to the American Heart Association, Light the Night for Leukemia, Rudolph Roundup Toy Drive, Heartland for Children, Family Fundamentals through the United Way, and Catholic Charities. They provide scoliosis screening to local schools and sports teams and often donate the funds received back to these institutions or to local charities. Chiropractic Centers of Lakeland – treating the whole person, the whole problem, the whole solution. The Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce would like to congratulate Chiropractic Center of Lakeland as the Small Business of the Month for October.
