THE NOISE WE MAKE dec 2 2006

THE NOISE WE MAKE Carecell Topic: December 2, 2006

Scripture Text: John 19:38-42 Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus were secret followers of Jesus. They were afraid to make this allegiance known because of their positions in the Jewish community. Joseph was a leader and honored member of the Jewish high council. Nicodemus, also a member of the high council, had come to Jesus by night (John 3:1) and later tried to defend him before the other religious leaders (7:50-52). Yet they risked their reputations to provide for Jesus’ burial.
Life Application Study Bible

Reflection question:  How do others perceive your faith? o Are you a secret believer? o Do you hide your faith from your friends and fellow workers? It’s time to come out of our shells – our comfort zones – and make a noise for Jesus. Stop being “secret agent” Christians. We must not be ashamed of the gospel. * How can we “make a noise” for Jesus? - Through our words AND actions.  Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

It’s not enough to just talk about God, we must WALK OUR TALK.  1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with ACTIONS and in TRUTH.

Practical Life Application:  Pray for God’s forgiveness if we became “secret agent” Christians.  Discuss ways on how each one (or the whole group) will “walk their talk” this week. (Evangelism project)
