During your time at UCSB, what do you hope to gain that will contribute to your future
success? Please include, your name, email, and the courses you wish to take.
Studying abroad is an indescribable experience to anyone that wishes improve his or her
skills. The opportunity to study at UCSB enables me to develop, at least, three significant
abilities. First, English is a worldwide language, essential to the global communication and worth
to any person which wants growing in his or her professional career. I have been living in Santa
Barbara for six months, and in this time I have been studying English in the Academic English
Program (AEP) on the UCSB Extension. During this time, I can see a noticeable improvement in
my communication. Thus, now I will pursuit improving my relationship with global culture and
learn how to deal with different people and ideas. Second, I believe UCSB can provide me an
opportunity to increase my knowledge. As an international student I hope to learn through a
different perspective. As a result, I hope I will become more flexible in my future decisions as an
engineer because I will have learned how to handle with different viewpoints. Furthermore, at
UCSB I can learn the latest business techniques, leadership skills and ideas of global markets.
Third, UCSB is a place with many national and international students. Thus, I hope making a lot
of friends; as a result, increasing my network opportunities. To sum up, Studying at UCSB is a
strong opportunity to become a successful professional. I hope UCSB will help me building
communication skills, enhancing knowledge and opening my ways to global market.
