So what?

•UNIDO background paper has an interesting

route for our discussion and plans of action:
•The rise of the South in world industry and
manufacturing trade
•Productive employment: cornerstone of
development and poverty reduction
•Growing role of South-South in world
manufacturing trade
•The rise of industrial powers in the South
• South-South cooperation in technology and FDI
•Trade liberalization, industrial development and
poverty reduction
In my view, Brazil’s international challenge....

...is how to deal with the

Chinese crowding-out
effect on the world
resources...

...and with the way the

BRIC economies will
evolve in the near
future.
So, South-South cooperation for us means...
...we should know how
to create triangular
situations where our
BRIC condition may
represent a win-win-win
deal for both our
partners and us...
...and the best scenario
is a SSN cooperation,
i.e, a South-South
cooperation to a fair
trade of goods and
services with the North.
